Replying To Richieq:  "Yes agreed, a cover of any kind on that side would be a great addition, important that it gets some TLC in this plan too, the toilets behind need a complete overhaul and new barriers wouldn't go astray to replace the ones that had bits and struts welded in between them a few years back"
Oh the toilets should be condemned as a health hazard. Honestly dreadful, one of worst I've come across in county ground . Look its positive. It's a start. I do think seating the terraced area has to be done as the next phase. But this is a positive start. And the royal way ? Any further info on that. ?

Why does seating the terraced areas need to be done at all? Ppl, i being one of them, enjoy watching the games standing. if you are so pushed on seating put it behind one of the goals. Could work be done on it to make but better, but I firmly believe that the current terraced area should remain a terrace.

5k is ample seating, how often would it be filled? reality is once/twice a year.

I'd be a standing man myself but there is a much greater demand for seating in recent years, look 5000 seats covered is a vast improvement on what we have and the standard of facility and comfort will be fantastic in comparison to what we have now, I was a little disappointed to hear Noel Dempsey say on LMFM that the budget may not extend to actually concreting the goal ends but that they would be reducing the slope on both and installing barriers as a start, it would be a pity if the tender price couldn't include this work as its well past time that banking was replaced in PT

Any further progress on the PT redevelopment. Is it going ahead in 2024?

The latest is that an additional €2.3 million was secured in the large scale infrastructure grants. The redevelopment is due to start in Q4 of 2024 which I would imagine will be after the club finals. I won't believe the project is starting until there is a digger in the ground though as before the additional funding announcement redevelopment was on track to start after the league next year. It certainly is long overdue and the 5k seating along with new dressing rooms and crucially floodlights will be a massive improvement

Seems to be going on for a very very long time now. I fully appreciate that these are massive projects but it does seem to be going on for a very long time. Initially word was that work was to start after the league in 2024. Now it appears to be Q4 when work will start. Meath do not need a 20,000 capacity stadium. A ground with a capacity of 12,000 is more than enough, with basic modern facilities.

I'd be fairly optimistic that we'll go ahead as proposed. A much more sensible layout incorporating the present terrace. Good luck to all involved.

I disagree, 20k is perfect as I have no doubt PT will be used as a neutral venue for many games in the years ahead as championship formats evolve and bring significant economic benefits to Navan and Meath. My hope is that when work starts they also freshen up the existing terrace by revamping the toilet blocks and new barriers etc, basically cosmetic in nature but matters that H&S take into account with capacities. If enough money is available next year I'd terrace the hospital end and just leave the town end as is instead of trying to regrade both into suitable banking, leave the town end as a separate project, a new stand, freshened up northern terrace, a terraced hospital end and lights would have us light years from where we are now

Any news on start date, the reason the game is in croke park is because work was soppose to start straight after last league game,a big loss of revenue to both meath gaa and navan itself

No true.
Game is in croke park at request of meath management.

Works not due to commence until after home game in AI group series played.

I thought the report said works were to commence in Q3 so that would suggest Autumn.

I will believe it when I see it sadly. So many false dawns on this project. Could have been done before Covid hit. I wonder what the build cost has risen to now?

At least Louth are moving forward on redevelopment and competitiveness. What's the new date for PT.

I saw a clip of the completed development of Conleth's Park in Newbridge. Looks really good - I think it has about 3000 seats and the rest is terrace - full capacity about 15,000. The internal facilities, 4 dressing rooms and meeting rooms look good and there is even a small bar!

Would something like that work for us? Or we dead set on an all seater with a larger capacity!! I'd probably like something with more seats and cover but wouldn't be hung up on the capacity - 13,000 is probably plenty for most games

Elliotts did the work and I believe the cost was about €18m - based on that an all seater would probably run to over €30m!! Doubt we'd ever get to that!!!

It's not going to be all seater now, a new 5000 capacity stand and regraded grass banks are planned, they say that alone will bring the capacity up to 20K, not sure if Meath are in for more LSSIF funding which will be announced soon but if they are I would hope a refurb of the northern terrace (barriers, toilets, turnstiles etc) would be included as well as doing a permanent job on one of the goal ends.

Instead of redeveloping Páirc Tailteann, Meath GAA should consider building a massive stand at the Dunganny Centre of Excellence. This would establish Dunganny as the true home of Meath GAA, creating a modern, central hub for training and matches, while utilizing the already impressive facilities there. It would be a forward-thinking move for the future of Meath football.

Not unsurprisingly, another opportunity lost.

Further development works at Dunganny could have included a very modest, low height spectator stand to off cover and seating.

This would not only boost the facility offering at our centre of excellence but would provide an appropriate secondary venue for hosting matches in the County.

The venue could have served while redevelopment works at Pairc Tailteann were being carried out. Alas, not to be.

The silence around the lack of progress at Pairc Tailteann is deafening. Proposed plans changing and being dialled back, works switching sides, works to start at end of League this year after 4 years of Covid delay, works to commence in Q4 this year but nothing firm on this either it appears. Will probably push into after league in 2025. What is there is the state money and they hardly still deserve it - use it or lose it.

Fair play to Kildare for addressing St. Conleths. To come in for permission and funding after the approvals at Pairc Tailteann, they have got all their works done while nothing firm is on the table here in Meath.

100% agree. The redevelopment could have included integrated transport, ie Navan/Dublin trainline. The M3 is a stone throw away. Dunganny could be a premier Leinster venue. Building would be easy, as open and no parking issues. Money from the sale of Pairc Tailteann would go a good bit towards redevelopment. We could start tomorrow, no interruptions to matches. It will never happen, but we can all dream.
