You don't have to go too far back to see evidence of this in Meath, dad and sons

The "Son" is currently on the Meath panel working under his 4th Meath Manager!!

So you think a senior inter county manager would risk his own success and reputation to do a favour to somebody from his club. And you also think that Conor Gillespie, Martin Corey and Joe McMahon would stand idly by and nod along to this. I hope it's a wind up because if it's not get back in the real world

Holy god. So a Meath Manager can't pick players from his own club anymore . Some nonsense talk.

Darragh Campion not available for Meath this year, Cathal Hickey has also opted out of the squad for 2025

Yeah heard that after taking a guess. Maybe Kinlough will start. Though haven't heard how he or anyone is going.

Not a bad stab at it but with Campion opting out this year, I think they will put Duke at 10 and maybe Keith Curtis in the full forward line. They could also call on Luke Mitchell. It appears they still have a few out with injuries like Sean Ryan & Ruairi Kinsella and others just coming back from injuries and not ready to enter the fray just yet. We got a nice win down there 2 years ago which made the trip very worthwhile and it would be nice for Robbie to start off with a win. madmeath (Meath) - Posts: 87 - 21/01/2025 15:14:59 2586815 Link 0 |

So you've selected a team based on what if you don't know how anyone is going??

Is Luke Mitchell even on the panel ?

Past performance, Sigerson and club form and position requirements came into it. Though like I said in the original post, it's a shot in the dark. Part of the craic with a forum I would have thought, enjoying some semi informed speculation.

Yes, Luke has played in the challenge matches.

8 players dropped off the Cork panel, Sherlock probably the biggest name of them which I'm not too unhappy about as he's given us a tough time of it over the years, I'd imagine the new rules would have suited him aswell albeit if he's coming off the bench. Bookies not giving us a shout for the game but think it's a great opportunity to get our league up and running LowerHogan (Meath) - Posts: 48 - 22/01/2025 10:27:43 2586913 Link 0 |
Surprise at these odd's, Cork missing several players from last year, also weather forecast poor, wet, windy and cold, throw in new rules to mix and wide open, all down to who adapts best., but expect an error ridden game.

Cork a good championship team but I think people are overhyping them a bit, they're 2nd favs to win the division, I really don't see it. They're a mid table Div 2 team. hyperache (Meath) - Posts: 256 - 22/01/2025 15:39:58 2586977 Link 1 |
were favs along with westmeath to be relegated so the bookies seem to have zero faith in Meath, i suppose they are going on championship last year and final two league matches. if we won by 5 or lost by 5 i wouldnt be overly surprised but a win would definitley set us up well for survival i think 5 points might be enough, i think westmeath might lose all 7 games. dickie10 (UK) - Posts: 797 - 22/01/2025 23:25:50 2587056 Link 0 |
I think we can pick up three wins, maybe four. Last year we beat Louth, were better than Cork for large parts or the match, drew with Cavan and should have won. We will be better coached this year, a young team a year older and wiser, and I don't think any of those three teams will improve on last year. Westmeath may struggle. Monaghan are on a downward trajectory. Six points, same as last year, should be achievable if the players are given a clear plan to follow with the new rules. Unfortunately I won't make it down to Cork but anyone know if there'll be any live coverage? Have checked GAAGO & TG4 Sport but nothing there, I know our game is the same time as 2 other Div1 games so we wouldn't be too high up the pecking order LowerHogan (Meath) - Posts: 48 - 23/01/2025 10:38:41 2587091 Link 0 |
The only meath league game that will be streamed is the Down away game (BBC iPlayer).
