Replying To BigJoe14:  "Obviously what is going on is O'Rourke is staying and they are just giving him more time to get the backroom team set up. Can't see how they will be making a change now with it being so late in the day. Lots of top coaches such as Lar Wall out there in Meath. If O'Rourke wants to make any sort of decent fist of this job, he needs to get these coaches in place and let them coach and step back himself. He should count himself blessed to still have the job and should do whatever it takes to get it right."
OK you mentioned one coach, who else should COR bring in. He appointed the previous coaches and surrounded himself with people who are held in high regard from their playing days, he's been clever in his approach and in doing so defecting from the real issue. Now we are going to give him another go and allow him appoint anther ack room team. Is he going to go for McDermott, Fay and Ollie Murphy legends of the game all the while keeping Sean Boylan.

Was said that the Chairman is on holidays so there was not going to be a decision last night and the recommendation has to go before a full meeting anyway.
Either Colm is coming back with a new backroom team or he is being given time to walk away on his own terms.

How can a decision not be made by Meath GAA before the club championship?? If (and hopefully when IMO) O Rourke is gone, you can be sure a new manager won't be appointed until the semi final stage of championship's at least, how on earth is a new manager, even if he is from in county meant to have scouted for new players, tried to see if any older players might come back, or in general get a gauge for what is available in the county. It sets up another year or mediocreness before they can get a proper chance to set their mark on things.

Just when you think the county board can't outdo themselves, this happens. Well done lads

Its an absolute shambles of a situation. I wouldn't have given him the job in the first place, never mind continue with him now. The county board don't have the guts to make a decision and stick to it. They are hiding behind committees, surveys etc. It's blatantly clear to anyone who has watched Meath over the past two years that they have no idea as to what they are doing on the pitch. Players coming and going (mainly going), coaches leaving two years in a row, beaten out the gate by very good teams and can't beat teams at or below their own level. Let's not forget the manager wasn't that interested in taking the job in the first place and then all of a sudden had a change of heart, and openly says to the media after games that we don't have the players. Imagine being a player in the dressing room hearing your manager say that in public about you. Changing manager won't win Meath an All Ireland next year, that's not what people are asking for. However, it wouldn't be a big ask to see a Meath team that is atleast organised and hard to beat. Right now not one team in Division 1, 2 or some in division 3 would bat an eyelid about playing Meath. How does it take ten weeks to make a decision?

Another point on this, if you're an outside manager why would you want to work for this county board. Leitrim have appointed a provincial club and county winning manager. Good chance he could have been persuaded given we're in a higher division and our high management spend last year per our accounts. If you're a potential outside manager with any other options why would you be picking Meath at this point

Think things would have been smoother and easier if the Meath management stepped down last night , but it has been made more difficult and messy now that he didn't !

Respect given to Stephen Bray and Barry Callaghan , thanks lads for your service , it was a difficult task for you two lads from the beginning , but thanks, two gentleman and best of luck in the future.

They scheduled that meeting while he's on hols.
Says a lot.

CB cannot be trusted to scrap bird poo off benches in PT.
A PA system straight from 1930s

And we expect them to make a significant decision again a Meath legend.

Calling a meeting while Chairman's on Holidays. But then after calling a meeting to decide then pushing it out another 10 days or so it ridiculous.

what happened to zoom meetings anyway

Meath Championship will have 2 at least rounds done when a decision is done and if there was a problem it was back in June or July the decision should be made

Brutal treatment of a Meath legend, He may be not everyone's cup of tea as a manager but he's there, he's willing to continue and that's what Meath needs.

it can't be always the managers fault Eamon O'Brien, Banty, Mick ODowd Andy McEntee and Now COR let the man continue for his term

He should look over the border and stop looking in the past. Most thought Louth would regress when Mickey Harte left. But they got a young man, director of football in UCD. Closer in age to the players and in tune with modern football. Living in Meath more than 8 years now, more familiar with LGFA, but that's my neutral opinion. O'Rourke should go and only ex-players with a proven recent record of coaching should be involved with the Meath senior team. From within the county and outside it.

Definitely not Eamon O'Briens ,Banty , Mick O'Dowds and Andy McEntee fault , but we gave Mick O'Dowd 4 years and Andy McEntee 5 years , we actually give our managers a lot of time than other counties.

Outside the county everyone seems to think we are sacking managers left right and centre , if you take a look at any other county 2 years is the most time any manager gets , Micky Harte one year with Derry , Dessie Dolan two years with Westmeath , Vinny Corey two years with Monaghan and I can go on but just showing you the latest step downs , I would probably take Dessie Dolan , Vinny Corey , Mickey Harte over Colm O' Rourke if I am honest and I don't mean to be smart or funny about it .

No great surprise the way this is panning out. Tone of some posts seem to lay the blame for latest mess at COR door. If the man feel's he has more to offer then he has a right to attempt to continue. CB may have different opinion and seem content to drag it out and hope situtation will resolve it self,so avoiding any fallout, would have taught lessons learned by previous mess. As you say poor treatment of the man who stepped up when few if any wanted job. This situtation has now attracted unwanted interest from national media and led to the usual rumour mill. Time to wrap this up, doing no one any favours.

Only ex players?

Jesus wept. Do we not learn lessons.

Top quality coaches required. Ex players or not.

Frightening narrow minded.

Would not be too concerned about media speculation anyway. They just want a story .I suggest Colm has been given the opportunity to improve the backroom team and come forward with his proposed plans for approval. That is the problem i.e. finding the people who can work as a team. Colm deserves the chance to try to improve things .He is wiser now perhaps ,as he was on a learning curve like everyone else. He said this himself and bring in help The CB are playing a waiting game for now and rightly so. They know options are limited anyway. My money says O Rourke to stay for year 3 anyway with a beefed up backroom team . Another few bob to say it will be done without any "importing" from outside the county.

Why does he deserve a chance to try and improve things ? There has been zero improvement from where the team was at in the 2 years he's had.

In his own words. If there was no improvement in his first 2 years he would step down. There has been no improvement.

We will be judged on our performances v The Dubs....

If the players don't want me I'll step down.

I see know reason why he deserves another chance. He's had 2 years and there had been zero improvement.
