He did well but you are slightly exaggerating also. He came on at the start of the 2nd half and Canavan went off on 60 minutes when the game was wrapped up.

I think he has a point in what he is saying though. Give him and the other young lads a shot from the start as the older lads albeit not very experienced either don't appear to be cutting the mustard. Expect even more of them to be added post U20s this year. It could be more or less an u23 panel except for Keoghan, Jones, and maybe Harnan and Ryan to come back which is no bad thing. Just need to build a team and a method of play from this young team.

He was by far the best player on a pitch full of inter county players, he kicked one point with his non preferred left foot that was absolutely outrageous

I'm truly at a loss to know what's gonna happen here. There is the optimism part of me that believes we will put our season back on track and win. Then there is the part of me that thinks are management capable of playing a proper set up , ? royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 09/02/2024 11:14:16 2525210 Link 0 |
On Moriarty, reason why we probably haven't seen him yet is he's still involved with UCD. He is training and playing with them midweek so probably not able to make all the Meath sessions. Costello is already been in around the panel for a year now under COR so he has done a bit of time and COR knows his ability. Worrying if you actually believe that, Aaron lynch is in the exact same boat as Moariarty and he has started 2/2. That line of thinking is just wrong.

Costello was under Andy for 2 years prior to Colm coming in.

Lynch played in most of the matches last year, he has far more credit in the bank under COR than Moriarty. It's easier to play a guy who has done it all last season for Meath vs a guy who was around the panel but only played in a couple of games. Both of them aren't training as much with Meath midweek but Lynch has credit in the bank over Moriarty. Now tell me where that line of thinking is wrong? I didn't mention Andy. This is COR's team, it was a clean slate for all players so whatever they done under Andy means very little now. Costello has credit in the bank under COR, Moriarty doesn't.

So are we saying keoghan and jones have only a year under their belt too ? You said Colm has a year to look at Costello. I'm not having a pop. But lynch is similar to moriarty

He was only making the point about Costello being established on team ahead of Moriarty. Keoghan and Jones would be on any Meath team regardless of who manager is so don't understand your point here.

My point is I read it as he was only on one year.I may have read it wrong and if I have I apologize Which he isn't. He's in his 4th year on Meath team. Moriarty is on his 2nd. As far as I'm aware. And should be starting instead of getting 5 minutes. On another note is it true we had a challenge game against Offaly? Anyone know how it went ? royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 11/02/2024 18:49:59 2525503 Link 0 |
I'm gonna give a team that I (my opinion ONLY) could be worth a look. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 11/02/2024 20:21:08 2525514 Link 0 |

I'd agree on frayne move he's good player but lacks the athleticism for number 11.we are getting over run from that position when he not getting a head of a turnover.scully would be a good addition there for hispace goin Forward and tracking.but if we are set up like again armagh its lights out I feel.

As I say I'm just trying to figure out some system or set up that May arrest the decline. We are in free fall. It's not the results as much as the manner of them. If he have a strong middle then we have something and actually if scully is still around (thought som1 said he was either injured or left panel) then I'd have no problem with that either. But we need a bit of steel and grit. Louth will take us apart if we set up like we did v Armagh.

Probably get away with a skillful, less athletic player at centre forward if runners on the wings. While Scully has some experience at this stage, he is unlikely to offer hugely in terms of scores or setting up scores. O'Rourke mentioned him as being a loss as he's injured but I just don't see him bring the answer.

Agree, 11 is definitely Frayne's best position. He can shoot very accurately off both feet from distance and is a great passer too. Would be wasted inside. While he isn't very fast he certainly puts a big shift in which can't be said about a lot of them.

Anyone hear why Jack Flynn has left the pane? The We are Meath lads were talking about it today. Big blow. Selwyn (Meath) - Posts: 383 - 13/02/2024 00:11:14 2525771 Link 3 |
Played Offaly development panel vs Meath development panel/ lads who didn't play against Armagh. Won by a point but it was just a run out and game for lads
