1. Billy Hogan (my preference as his kickouts are better than brennans, I'm OK with Brennan starting though) Sheridan2010louth (Meath) - Posts: 181 - 05/02/2024 14:58:10 2524570 Link 1 |
Moriarty gets better the less he plays, I'd like to see him start and play well, he has all the attributes southmeathgael (Meath) - Posts: 937 - 05/02/2024 17:07:32 2524597 Link 11 |
what about Adam McDonnell? brings a fight in him and won't be let to be pushed around the field especially against Louth he would get stuck in from the start. Michael Murphy at corner back just isn't doing it for me either to be honest. Brian O'Reilly could be decent at corner back but is it too soon especially against Louth? I agree Kinsella and Moriarty need to play and get game time

On current form Louth are the favourites if we lose this I think we're in massive trouble 9774739191637399 (Meath) - Posts: 18 - 05/02/2024 22:43:33 2524664 Link 1 |

Write the league off we are getting relegated . The age profile of the team is far too young and the best footballers are not in there . He hasn't even lads playing in near the right positions . Lads on here saying murphy not good enough at corner back ( prob are correct ) but to be fair to the lad he's a wing forward same said for campion at 6 he's a wing forward. We were the 17th best team in Ireland in championship and we'll be the 17th best ranked going into league next year as favs for div 3. Good call i would love to see Adam play, i think he'd give a better performance than the likes of Campo and coffey who struggled against Armagh, definitely has that bit of fight in him as you say. I would prefer O'Reilly and O'Halloran to Murphy and Flood, I don't think it's irresponsible to play these kids when they are better than the more experienced players playing instead of them. Its just my option others will disagree.

Costello only played there while developing as a young footballer, he's not a defender and his best position for me is in the half forward line, leaving jones out for McGowan is mad. Agree about Moriarty definitely but others like Murphy Hickey O'Connor just aren't playing well.

For the first two games a good few lads have played out of position. Murphy isn't a corner back, Flood isn't a wing back, Hickey is not a wing forward and O Connor isn't a corner forward. I've seen all these lads play at club level and for example Hickey usually plays center back or midfield. His best games for Meath gave been at wing back so why continue to play him out of position. Morning neighbours. Looking forward to the trip to Navan on Sunday week. As for how the game goes, it's hard to call but Meath surely being favourites despite the doom and gloom on here. Louth, we seem to have continued with same team and set up as per MH. We were unlucky to lose against Armagh but reality was that they butchered 2 x 1v1s for goals. As for Meath, blip against Fermanagh may have been down to complacency as COR on LMFM before the game said "we will give Fermanagh the respect they deserve". In my opinion, that translates as - only need to go through the motions here as we will win pulling up. An Lú Abú ged (Louth) - Posts: 299 - 08/02/2024 10:11:34 2525062 Link 0 |
He (O'Rourke) should release the McGowans and Brendan McKeon back to the hurling squad so if he is not going to use them.

You'd be hard pressed to find a bookies that would have Meath as favourites for this game

If Meath get it right, they should be able to dispose of Louth with a bit to spare. hyperache (Meath) - Posts: 251 - 08/02/2024 16:49:36 2525134 Link 1 |
Ah stop! Daithi McGowan has been one of the best players over the past few games! He is versatile and adds something in the dead ball area especially from far out! He has been consistently a top performer for Ratoath over the past 5 years and if we are good enough not to have a player like him in our match day squad then we should be in division 1, winning Leinster and getting ready to bring Sam up to Navan!! Maynooth put Brian o halloran on after 20 minutes to mark ruairi canavan tonight as he was causing damage, done a very good job kept him scoreless beat him to every ball and Canavan was then taken off. Young lads definitely worth a shot since were in a so called re-build.

Watched the Sigerson games this evening to see how the Meath lads did. O'Halloran did well though he came on at the start of the second half and Canavan went off in added time with a knock having won a couple of important frees for UU. Frayne kicked two points (one free) and was lively and involved. Kinsella got two early scores, the first a gem but found it tough going in the conditions. Moriarty kicked four great points from play for UCD but went off with 15 minutes left to play or so, hopefully it wasn't a knock. Aaron Lynch got two points in the first half and was more involved. Sean Coffey did well on the wing. Roger (Meath) - Posts: 478 - 08/02/2024 23:49:56 2525183 Link 0 |
