Meath Vs Kildare

So after another reality check, who do you think should be starting against kildare. With Keogy potentially playing his last game yesterday our back 6 looks like a bank vault with no door. Id let lynch start as at times showed a bit of creativity yesterday when on for morris.

Not to worried about names on teamsheet we have to get a defensive system in place. We tried following Dublin with añ attempt at man on man and got roasted. Is there a problem with DK? Know he went off injured, is it that serious? Agree Lynch should get a shot, brought both skill and effort when introduced. Last chance before championship to tighted things up.

Yes, Lynch for me is a starter. Was not phased by occasion vs Dubs and showed energy and drive to make serious claim for starting slot.

Would drop Jordan morris to bench for this one - hasnt really hit form since early promise of 2020.

This is a disaster going into an important last round against Kildare. With Menton having called it a day and McGill being deemed surplus to requirements, you could say that we are now without our 3 most influential players of the last 5 or 6 years.

A non-fixture as far as the league is concerned but the final positions could have a bearing on who plays for Sam or the Tailtean Cup later on so they will have to try and restore some semblance of pride in the jersey. Probably our last game in Newbridge in its current shape, go on lads spoil the party on the lilies.

No harm to keogy as he has been one of meaths greatest ever servants as has stuck through all the misery over the past decade and some. But this year i think its starting to show. I know we dont have a replacement but i do think it might make 1 or two others step up(wishful thinking maybe).

Kildare looked very open at the back of what I saw in limerick, and we are hopeless at the back, so should be plenty of scores. Kildare, despite a dodgy league, def have stronger forwards then us. They should beat us and leave us waiting on favourable munster and Ulster championship outcomes to see if we are in All Ireland, cause I can't see us getting there via leinster.

They should beat us at home, however, the pressure is on them big time, we have a chance in Leinster, they have to face Dublin so expect a big battle. Limerick missed a few goal chances, both set of backs look shakey so will come down to converted chances and as you say thèy look to have the better forwards.

Agree there needs to be serious work done defensively, one week on isn't much time but hopefully see some indicator that it'll be improved come Leinster.
I do think there has to be a good few changes made to the team. James o hare should be given a go in at corner back, management can't just be satisfied and make no changes back there after not winning a single ball in our own full back line against Dublin . Lynch and lenihan definitely deserve a go in the full forward line either side of Costello. And Thomas o Reilly for me could play in at half forward coz our half forward line seems to be making less and less of an impact on games by the week.

Yeha agree that there's needs to be a lot of work done within the next week in terms of our defense, hopefully we see some indication that it'll be be much harder to break us down come Leinster.

I do think there has to be a handful of changes tho, no win in 4 now and rlly the only changes we've seen week in week our have been forced changes because of injuries and a suspension. James o hare should be given a chance in the full back line imo, management can't be satisfied with the situation, there wasn't a single ball won by our full back line against Dublin. Lynch and lenihan should be given a chance in the full forward line, both have made an impact in the little time given.

Half forward line is a huge issue imo, they seem to be having less and less of an impact on games as the weeks go by. Thomas o Reilly could help to shake it up

Expect to see a number of changes for this game. Fb line has to change , if keoghan is out it adds another problem although not at his best this year he still worries teams and forwards in particular.
We need to see some resemblance of a game plan and a defensive plan , it's the last game of the league and the looser could be facing tailteann cup. So lot on the line. Defensively Kildare are a shambles. Probably worse than us, so I think we could sneak a few goals. We aren't going to out point them so the winning will be in the one who can get goals

I think we should concentrate on who made an impact from bench last week. I think Lynch for Morris certainly. I think Lenehan deserves a run and will Walsh be fit? Probably Daithi McGowan to add a kickout option. Not sure what available backs we have in panel. O'Hare the most promising young defender but maybe they are taking time with him.

I'm a bit more optimistic going into this one but that based on the assumption that we make some readjustment defensively and not stick with man on man. If we don't change this approach then we're going to make it too easy on Kildare.

Just throwing something out there!!

Last day out against the Dubs I thought Flynn and Jones did well but I also thought McGowan did well when he came on! I thought the full back line looked inexperienced - Kildare are decent in the full forward line

I would consider moving Harnan to full back, Jones to 6 and bring McGowan in alongside Flynn in midfield!

Lynch looked lively last day out and seems to be at least playing with an element of confidence. I think Jordy Morris is a good player but he seems to be struggling with confidence at the moment.

A big game for both teams - the loser is going to have to watch nervously as the provincial championships play out!

Jaysus lad. I'm not sure moving a fella to 6 who I'm pretty sure has never played there ever is the answer to our defensives issues. Probably the wrong time of the year to be trying stuff like that .

No win in 4 games, I don't see us winning this one. At the best of times Newbridge is a hard place to go for away teams, Kildare are used to Newbridge but other teams fond it difficult playing on such a narrow pitch.
