Terrible result at home , need a big result vs Limerick which wont be easy . We got hammered the last time we played in Limerick a long time ago. We shouldn't underestimate them.

And then to get back into it and go 5 clear mid way through the second half, and then just capitulate is very very disappointing. Just a dismal performance which puts promotion well and truly out of sight. Very very poor again."
Yes turning point in the game.We were 4/5 up and in control and the sending off let them back into it.On the sending off was it harsh or deserved? Was a good bit away were I was standing just looked like a shoulder and the Louth lad ducked into it at the last second. If it was a red then very silly to do it.We were 5 points up though and fell apart.I dont understand why we had everyone forward for the Louth goal(he done well in fairness) we were winning why push everyone forward especially with a man down, very poor to get caught out in that way.we really do struggle to break down a defensive system.I dont think we are kicking the ball in quick enough, taking to many touches and that let's them set up in the defence. Why wasxHogan kicking the ball out near the Louth goalkeeper in the second half all the time, I counted at least 3/4 times kicked to him with three men around one Meathman.Im not putting all the blame on him as there wasn't a whole lot of movement for him but just keep it away from a free man. After the good start in the league its become undone since. We have to beat Limerick now or else we will will be in serious trouble. We need to beat Limerick and either Dublin or Kildare to finish top 3/4.

Hang on! He is a really good player and we need someone in full back to lead the back line! I agree with your man - try and get him back in! I'd follow that until we know what the story is!!

3 mistake cost us the game.
1 Bad pass for the louth goal
2 Moriarity spilled the ball which led directly to a louth score
3 Jack Flynn made a fine catch, and instead of taking his mark had a rush of blood to the head.
All signs of inexperience.

Home now and honestly we look worse than ever. No structure the high ball in is destroying us. Our subs also were at the wrong time. Mcentee was controlling the backs and letting keoghan go more forward. Unless he's not fit for 70 mins I can't understand it at all. Yes he hit a wide towards the end of first half but others had done same. Campion is gone I'd say for a couple of games and hickey also on injured list. Taking of cos when he'd be the type to sneak a goal at that time was also odd. I don't know what to say. We look like we've gone backwards. We will hammer Limerick of that I have no doubt, but so will Kildare which will leave them on 4 points and assuming Dublin beat us it's a relegation play off in newbridge. As if they win we down on 6 points on the head to head with them as I can see louth beating Kildare.

Disappointing is too small a word for it ! Inexperience may fit to a point ! All our players are just about fit for purpose which is Div 2. Even with a good management team it will be a long haul requiring an abundance of patience. To lose a 5 point lead in a local derby where a kick back was expected for the Derry beating is a serious message about where we are at.With a limited talent pool management can only do so much. The only consolation i can find is that it is still early stages of development.

Even by modern day Meath standards this was an absolutely embarrassing collapse. O'Higgins red card was totally warrantee and was just a silly decision to hit him high. Few positives I felt were Jack Flynn playing quite well even if he did have some bad turnovers late and Adam O'Neill second half performance,

Negatives: Ronan Jones turning into a turnover machine is really hurting the team, if he could stick to what he's good at which is tackling and putting pressure on we'd be in a lot better of a position.

Half forward line was a disaster today, between the 3 of them there was just 1 point scored. Not good enough, each should be looking for at least 2 points a game

Bench made Meath worse not better, Shane mcentee had a good first half but think he injured his back, replaced by James O'hare and O'Hare did not impress, also Thomas O'Reilly coming on for scully did not help things

Disagree. McEntee very poor. Only mistake here was to actually start him. COS has never developed and has no football brain which means despite all his efforts, there is little end product.

I don't accept the not having players excuse. Ratoath ,Summerville, Dunboyne, and Ashbourne have loads of good players. Whether they would play here I don't know. It's gone raggedy.

We are in big big trouble lads.

Another 18 points conceeded. So far off it defensively it's scary and yet some people think there is not issue with certain lines in the backs .

It will come down to the final day in Newbridge to decide who goes down and to be perfectly honest as bad as Kildare are going at the moment I would not be the slightest bit confident of beating them with our defence the way it is.

Really poor, sending off had an impact, hower we seemed run out of ideas and gas in last 15/20 minutes. Plus we turned over some amount of ball , a few players doing this all to often. COR has said on several occassions you need to score at least sixteen points plus a goal or two to win most matches, thirteen scores today just not good enough. Its the most difficult fix of all sorting this out. As a unit we are not connected either in attack or defence. Expect to win next week, even so we may still have to get something from Dublin or Kildare and that was the exact thing we hoped to avoid. In the final shake up we might be thankful to the Dubs for last nights luck escspe against Clare.

Definitely. Agree completely. I don't know if Shane was injured but certainly was having a good game. The game came down to the sideline and harte won that. (He'll win against most managers)

I just didn't see the same. Sorry but i think bossing the backline could be called an exaggeration. He is neither a good enough defender or player in possession to be on a Meath team.

Honestly don't know what game you were watching. Everyone around me was shocked that he didn't come back out in second half. And everyone was saying how well he played in first half.

More importantly that goal killed us. No forward thinking when passing. players too slow to catch Lennon and even when they did none had cop on to drag him down outside square and take the black card.
Inexperience is a excuse that will wear thin if improvements aren't seen soon. Big question is are we any better than last few years ? Or can we see where we will improve. I'm very disappointed with that today, we didn't tackle hard enough, hadn't got the know how to use the ball properly when we had it, half forward line with 1 point between them. I don't know I'm down about the whole thing. As I said on my very first post after the game louth were deserving winners. But I just don't see where our improvement is going to come from. And that team today looked ragged and incoherent, it's like 15 guys were pulled off the street and told here play this. I mean they looked like they never played together before. We have some on here saying give it 5 years and we will see improvement . I don't know what to say. Even some glimpses of improvement from last year would do at this stage but we not even standing still. We seem to be getting worse.

I was watching the same match as you were and everyone else beside you. You expressed your opinion. I have done the same. I thought Jack Flynn played quite well showing promising authority at midfield. I also disagree with you in that long direct ball did work at times and it was the short laborious ppassing that was our downfall.

Louth didn't beat Meath today, Meath done an outstanding job of beating themselves, once again silly errors cost us, we have to eradicate these basic mistakes as they are killing us.

Getting worried too. Fb line in trouble. Could do with some experience in there. And tbh I agree with newbridge outcome

Yeay would agree we dont get enough scores and regarding our defence conceding an awful lot as well.Louths's goal could have been a free out as he looked to have hopped the ball twice but I suppose we cant really give out about that considering 2010 LOL.Adam o Neil made some run back to try and stop that goal thought he had a good game.Jack Flynn also done alright got turned over once ir twice but tried hard .Jack o connor also done ok.I think Louth has a system (defensive one at that) and stuck to it well although the sending off really helped them but they got over the line.We seemed to only score in bursts scored 5 points in the first 15 mins didn't score again for a good bit.We scored 1 -2 in the space of a couple of minutes and then didn't score for another good while. We just need to try and keep the scoreboard ticking over and not go as long without scoring.
