Replying To LeitrimRoyal99:  "Congratulations to Ashbourne secondary school on making the all Ireland B final. I expect a few of that team to be involved with our 20's. 7 guys from Don/Ash and 1 from St Vincent's on the starting team, 7 from Fingal Ravens but we won't hold that against them when they're representing a Meath school :). Brilliant to see a Meath school going well. I'd love to see another Meath school or 2 be able to make the step up to Leinster A level alongside Navan to give us another pathway for players to play at a level above club level, I think it would help our under 20's and consequently our seniors"
You'd imagine the likes of Evan O'Kane and Michael O'Sullivan will possibly get the call, maybe Oisín Daly and Michael MvIcor as well.

With the Championship around the corner cant see anyone else getting called up. There is talk that they are going to release a few lads from the panel. Calling up lads this late would be very disruptive to the group and some of the lads that you mentioned were already in and were released.

Ashbourne. Would have been probably the best forward on the 2022 minors. Got 3-5 in the schools final for Ashbourne. But seems like he's not involved

No he isn't involved to my knowledge, if he is playing school football still then he will have another 2 years for the u20's.

He was minor in 2022 and played adult for Ashbourne last year. I'm surprised he's not on it if that's the case

Leinster starts on the 27th of March. But we are in a group of 3 so have a bye that week. Our first game is the 2nd of April. I think it's Westmeath at home followed by the Dubs away on the 9th. 2 teams coming out of the group of 3. Top into a semi final and 2nd place in to a quarter final

I think this could be a hard campaign, A few lads injured and they seem to be still bring in lads and trying them out. First game in two weeks in Ashbourne against Westmeath.

Would tend to agree. I'd be a lot less confident about this years group than I was about last years even though this is the age that won all Ireland minor. Although maybe lower expectations are a good thing and I do trust Cathal O'Bric and Marcus Brennan to get the most out of them

Was listening to the local radio this morning on LMFM and the U20's leinster championship starts tonight and it got me thinking with a week until our first round game V Westmeath in Ashbourne why have we not heard anything about the Meath 20's panel? have I misses it. Extremely poor public relations if it hasn't been announced yet. A lot of good players out there if the club championship is anything to go on, Surely you will see some of the lads from the Ashbourne school that got to an All Ireland a few weeks back. Anyone know the squad?

Possibly Michael McIvor and Evan O Kane who was best player in the U19 final last year. The Ashbourne CS team was equally spilt between Ashbourne and Fingal Ravens with McIvor the odd one out from St Vincents. Most of last years squad are underage again -Brian O Halloran, Conor Ennis, Liam Kelly, Johnno Regan, Killian Smyth, Jack Kinlough, Sean Emmanuel, Shaun Leonard and few more I can't think of. Youre looking at the All Ireland minor team that beat Tyrone.

Yeah going off last years team you'd have Kelly, O'Halloran, Smith, O'Regan, Kinlough and Leonard who are nailed on starters you'd be thinking. Then I'd say McDermott almost certainly in goals. Emmanuel and Sean O'Hare probably start. That's 8 of the team. I think Eamon Armstrong, Cian Commons and John Harkin have a good chance. My complete guess at a team would be
1). Oisin McDermott,
2). Liam Kelly,
3). Brian O'Halloran,
4). Sean O'Hare,
5). Killian Smith,
6). John O'Regan,
7). Eamon Armstrong,
8). Jack Kinlough,
9). Sean Emmanuel,
10). Shaun Leonard,
11). John Harkin,
12). Conor McWeeney,
13). Josh Harford,
14). Cian Commons,
15). Rian Stafford.

This is a complete guess as I haven't been at many of the last few challenge games and don't know the injury situation

1.Oisin McDermott
2.Sean O'Hare
3.Brian O'Halloran
4.Liam Kelly
5.John Mannion/Killian Smyth (if fit)
6.John O'Regan
7.Eamonn Armstrong
8.Jack Kinlough
9.Charlie O'Connor
10.Shaun Leonard (if fit)
11.John Harkin
12.Conor McWeeney (if fit)
13.Rian Stafford
14.Cian Comnons
15.Jamie Murphy

Conor McWeeney and Killian Smith if they're back fit enough to play? Shaun Leonard is available I believe? Sean Emmanuel is out for the next few weeks with a torn harmatring and Josh Harford is only back from a knee injury so maybe it's too soon but could feature. Hughie Corcoran and Conor Duke to be thrown into the mix also

Totally forgot about Rian McConnell and for me has to start somewhere in the team, probably too light for midfield but a wing forward or corner forward coming out as a third option for kick outs and play making could be ideal.

Yeah he looksgood if we can develop him, a Brian Fenton type player and as you said think he has to be involved. Started at midfled for the UCD freshers team this year and looked good, and despite him being of slight build, I think he's more physically developed than people think.

Its a difficulty one to pick but this is the form team for me, some of lads left out because they are injured. You need balance in a team and Commons out around the middle gives you the size. Id say Rian McConnell if he plays will drop out and play with just the two inside. 7,8,9,& 10 are all powerful runners so I could see them causing teams problems and throw in the creativity of Rian McConnell then Id back them. The majority of these had good championship campaign's with their clubs last year so you would hope that they pick up where they left off. Hope I have their club's correct.

1. Oisin McDermott (Ballinlough)
2. Brian O'Halloran (Ballivor) on Meath senior team currently
3. Liam Kelly (Ratoath)
4. Sean O'Hare (Rathkenny intermediate Champions 2023)
5. Killian Smith (Castletown)
6. John O'Reagan (Skyrne)
7. Eamon Armstrong (Duleek / Bellewstown Meath minor Captain 23)
8. Jack Kinlough (St Peters Dunboyne)
9. Charlie O'Connor ( Dunshaughlin )
10. Cian Commons (Seneschalstown)
11. John Harkin (St Peters Dunboyne)
12. Rian Stafford (Kilmainhamwood)
13. Rian McConnell (Castletown)
14. Josh Harford (Kilbride Junior Champions 2023)
15. Jamie Murphy (St Patricks)

Emmanuel, Leonard, Finlay, & McWeeney are all injured and will need a miracle to be fit for next week. Ennis is the only one back training fully (a week ago) so he might come in if there are still doubts over his fitness.

Heard lots of that team are out injured, for Westmeath you'd have to have the likes of Charlie o Connor and John Finnerty starting.
Two of them both playing with the 20s last year and a bit of faith in some of the new lads Conor Duke has had a good preseason leading up to this game. Lads like Tom Bowden getting back fit is a bonus, adds a bit of experience to the team.
