oh such a welcome boost & a much needed shot in the arm. only slight downside is , i think we don't have 5 years, alot of damage, in fact huge damage could be done in that timescale. get him in next year , and allow COR to retire with a successful narrative , thats the key for him . everyone gets what they want

Cathal O'Bric should be in charge of the Senior team next year, end of story. BigJoe14 (Meath) - Posts: 997 - 30/04/2024 12:48:12 2541768 Link 3 |
Proper Strength and Conditioning the key component. Hats off to all involved. GerryD (Monaghan) - Posts: 336 - 30/04/2024 13:31:12 2541793 Link 1 |
One of the best team display' from Meath in quite a while mixed with more than a few outstanding display's from several players. Best complement I can give EA is that he reminded me of a young GG when he played in same position. Well coached team with great workrate and attitude. Many of these lad's should make the jump to senior in next few years and add to an already young panel with lots of potential. seadog54 (Meath) - Posts: 2195 - 30/04/2024 15:06:32 2541835 Link 2 |
Totally agree with that!! Kelly has achieved a really remarkable double of leading a Minor team to All Ireland success and a 20's team to provincial success. The players seem to respond to him - he deserves credit for that. But, a great team performance too and well done to the management!

Unbelievable win the other night from 1-15 and the subs that came were absolutely brillant, all playing a very significant role in the game plan credit to management. Mmmeath (Meath) - Posts: 15 - 01/05/2024 12:03:37 2542206 Link 1 |
Agreed 100%...a breath of fresh air! A good example of a positive attitude throughout the team!

Such a breath of fresh air. Very front footed and they just dont seem to make mistakes in possession at the same rate as the senior team for example. The most impressive thing about them is how they constantly seem to be busting their balls to get back not only to cover but get in effective tackles. Shaun Leonard for example, probably didnt get the rub of the green on Monday and the referee made some bad calls on a few of the plays he was involved in, but he just has this knack of busting up the play of the opposition-this is down to a massive work rate and disciplined tacking. Kerry up next for Meath is it.? They have just won 3 in a row in Munster and their 6th in 9 years. Clearly a lot of talent coming through down there. Meath should be able to give them a good rattle though. Tyrone are very beatable if Meath get them in the final, in a repeat of the Minor a few years back. Kerry next yeah which is a great game and great to be going in playing a Kerry team with a real chance of winning. We will probably be slight outsiders with the bookies. But Kerry haven't made a final at this grade since 2008 and lost a lot of semi finals in that time. Hoping the injury that forced Sean O'Hare off is nothing serious as he has been excellent. Kerry will always be good but I wouldn't be going in with fear

I thought it was interesting seeing the retention by both Meath and Tyrone from their respective Minor Final teams, for their current u20 teams. Meath have a lot more in their current team. If Meath can beat Kerry, then they are in with a great chance of winning it out. CO'B is a cert imo for the next Meath senior management position, whenever that becomes available. He continues to do a great job. Impressed with him. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3983 - 02/05/2024 15:37:08 2542492 Link 1 |
Retention was very good with this group and hopefully it will carry through to senior. Would like to see COB as Colm's no two next year with the view of taking over following year. A smooth transition that should be of benefit to Meath football. Stamp out the rumours before they even start.

I don't see the value in him being number 2. I'd rather see him continue doing great things with 20s until there's a vacancy. There'll always be rumours.

A good win against the local rivals. Armstrong should be called into the Meath seniors for the all Ireland series. Hopefully Niall finnerty back for the semi final against Kerry. An mhí abu northmeathloyal (Meath) - Posts: 2 - 02/05/2024 19:07:47 2542527 Link 1 |
A brilliant player, his time will come once he keeps progressing, but to put him into the senior panel now would be madness, he's 18, has another 2 years u20. A sure fire way of jeopardising his footballing future. The Clifford example is a standout, by and large ya have to wait till it is at last their last year of 20s, example OHalloran.

Excellent idea in fairness. If COR has his wits about him, he would bring COB in as part of his backroom coaching team next year, the final year of his contract. He has nothing to lose, and Meath would have everything to gain. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3983 - 03/05/2024 09:00:17 2542575 Link 0 |
100%! OBric knows the young lads very well but the final year with COR would give him a chance to get to know the older lads and for them to know him He could still do the 20s too! Royalblufill (Meath) - Posts: 511 - 03/05/2024 09:44:16 2542582 Link 1 |
Definitely - sounds like a plan that should be put in place. Over to the Meath C/B now.. ;o) Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3983 - 03/05/2024 09:52:27 2542587 Link 0 |
Cathal O'Bric has a two year term with the 20's. I think were getting a bit carried away, we still have the semi final to play and he doesn't need the distraction.
