Meath V Roscommon

I'd actually go with an unchanged team apart from maybe Morris for Wallace. Time to see do these lads have some character and can they bounce back from one of the worst performances i have ever seen. If we dont get a reaction then its time to make drastic changes.

Inconsistency has dogged us now for the best part of twenty years, I'd fully expect meath to win on sunday but sadly another performance like today will happen again at some stage, its so frustrating been a meath supporter these days, our senior players are damage goods in my opinion and are too quick to throw the towel in when things aren't going well and they will continue to do so, but I still think we can achieve promotion this year but Andy needs to start making the tough decisions that could save his management.

"Andy needs to start taking tough decisions to save his management". What do you suggest those decisions should be specifically.? It looked like the vast majority of the players stood back yesterday No commitment ! Why? Can you elaborate ? Tough decisions ? WHO ? What ? Where ?

Does Royaldunne still contribute to the forum I stepped away to a large extent from looking in up to lately haven't seen him contribute or is he still on.

Personally I'd start Niall Kane at half back, start McGowan in midfield and revert Harnan to half back, Shane McEntee to half forward in place of McMahon, Jordan Morris in place of James Conlon, if there isn't a suitable response next Sunday, and I am going to make sure I am present to witness this hoped response, then we are in serious trouble.

From what I have seen and heard about yesterday, main problems were, not competing what so ever in any area of the pitch, basic skills (soloing, handpassing, kickpassing) all over the place, shooting (20 shots off). I don't think there any any personal changes you can make to be honest, apart from Jordan Morris coming into the team from the start. I would fully expect a response next Sunday, but making a raft of changes wont change what happened yesterday. Menton, Jones and McGill are out for the entire campaign so no point dwelling on them not being there in the short term.

Now lads, Enough is enough. To say that these lads have no character or commitment is totally wrong and out of line. I don't believe anyone who took to the field or pulled on a Meath jersey are not committed. They work their socks off and do their best on every occasion they put their lives careers and family life on hold to represent Meath. The reality is they are not playing well and don't have the game plan or physical attributions to compete with the best teams. We are lacking in the physical stakes all over the field. It's time to stop pointing the finger at players and saying they're not committed because they are. The personal attacks on some players is totally out of line, they need our support not abuse.

Actually that's it I a nutshell. Liable to win comfortably against Roscommon and get hammered by Offaly or Clare. It's gone beyond a joke at this stage

Have no fear. I'm here.
What can I do for you my old friend. Haven't had a good slagging match with yourself in ages. This place is not what it use to be unfortunately.

Comment re lack of commitment refers to the match against Galway only . It was obvious to all for some reason. Meath players never lack in that department. I agree any county player has to make massive sacrifices .. no argument. The players need to ask themselves what happened yesterday and why. The players have the honour of wearing the county jersey that is nice compensation for the effort A re run of yesterdays video will clarify the point.

Just rewatched the so called game yesterday. Abject was the consensus. And as much as it pains me to say this. That is right.

Expecting a loss on the weekend, roscommon in good form and Meath at a very low ebb. Watching a lot of the games over the weekend what is clear is that having Joey Wallace and Banty in full forward won't work. They aren't big and strong enough at this level; end of.

Two things can be true, you can be one of the best footballers are club level in the county but lack the attributes for intercounty. Both suited to making an impact off the bench but we have tried this enough times now and we can't make the ball stick inside.

Hogan
Clarke
Keogan
Ryan
Hickey
McEntee (no he's not good enough but he's captain)
Harnan
Conlan
Devine
Costello
McMahon
O Reilly
Morris
Walsh
O Sullivan

Did Andy make his son captain?

Looking in at Meath last few years the Wallaces reminded me of Theo Walcott in soccer, unreal speed but lacked skill or football brain. Take the pace away and very basic footballers. Cant imagine winter football pitches suiting them. Might be better suited to summer ball.

On the weekend surely Meath will hit us with a backlash if the have anything about them. We had a good win but due to club football and injuries were down around 7 or 8 starters, Doubt any will come into starting 15 this week either. Cork were putrid so wouldnt be overly confident for this weekends game.

There's about half a dozen players on that team not good enough yet you single out only 1 to highlight he isn't good enough . That's poor form.

I agree. There is much more than one not good enough and of those not good enough, Shane Mc is one of the better ones.

Poor form.

I'll put my money where my mouth is-

Hogan (looks promising )
Clarke (haven't seen enough but Galway ff line did as they pleased last Sunday)
Keogan (IC standard)
Ryan (good club player)
Hickey (IC standard)
McEntee (good club player)
Harnan (hasn't kicked on at all it seems since u21 prodigy, not sure he's still IC standard)
Conlan (hasn't kicked on, not sure IC standard)
Devine (good club player)
Costello (IC standard)
McMahon (IC standard but not consistent enough for a good IC team)
O Reilly (starting to realise potential but jury still out, is he a forward for a top 10 intercounty team? I don't think so)
Morris (IC standard)
Walsh (jury still out for me, not kicking on)
O Sullivan (IC standard but if he was a Dub or a Kerry man he'd be a tenacious attacking corner back).

Well him or any of them being good enough is probably a matter of opinion but what isn't up for debate is that he was one of the few lads on sunday who didn't throw the towel in.

There absolutely is, point I was making was he is captain so will start regardless. I also made the point the Joey and banty aren't good enough and dropped others from the side? So not just singling out one player. Make it make sense if your going to start a row Altho 90% on here is a row for sake of it
