Half time - and the last 12 minutes or so have left us with a mountain to climb. Hyland giving Seamus lavin a run around and struggling to get possession from the kick outs - same old story

6 points down - I think we need to drop the sweeper idea if indeed that is what we are trying to do with McEntee and Ryan and try and get on the front foot in attack
35 minutes to turn it around - give it a go - all duck or no dinner!!!

Kickouts a disaster yet again for Meath and Kildare getting theirs away with no pressure. Difficult if not impossible to win a game when that is happening.
Game is not over but need a big improvement in the second half and Meath need to up their intensity a lot to even bring themselves into the game.
Team looks flat, standing way too far off their men.
Feel a Kildare Goal will end the game so real pressure on now.

I thought brennan didnt put a foot wrong in fairness. Bit of a crazy game . But credit where credit is due ! Destroyed them in the 2nd half

Good win. Better 2nd half performance. 14 chances converted from 25. But will need higher intensity, more speed and pressure on ball, with ultimately greater point convertion. Overall satisfactory win.

No I dont think so to be fair, I said the game wasnt over but going in 6 points down left us vulnerable.

Kickouts were not good in that first half and we handed possession away on almost every one in that half.

If 'Im honest, i Don't know what to think about that performance. Great to come back in the second half, great to score 5 goals but only 9 points in 75 mins of football would worry you surely?

Plenty of issues to be sorted no doubt. Thought Ronan Jones put in a good shift. Morris looks a prospect and Shane Walsh will have better days.

Still at least we're still in and best of luck to them in the final.

5-9 vs. any Kildare team is a serious, serious tally. Agree with the above poster. Character came through. The first half was very flat, and I actually thought we were going to lose the game. We just looked lethargic. It has to be said we are a very good team for creating goal chances. 12 goals in two championship games is very good, historic surely? (Furlong). O'Sullivan was immense, and I thought Jones was very good, other strong performers were Morris, O'Reilly, Keogan but it was a very strong effort all around and a proud effort by all. Especially after the 2017 games against the lilies, this is the return to form in the Leinster hierarchy. Kildare arent a bad side but I personally felt they looked slightly unfit in the final quarter and very surpisingly poorly managed. Also their discipline went to pot, and I for one was smug that Meath put the icing on the cake with the 5th goal after the red card. A very happy Meath man tonight. Beating Kildare by 9 points is a huge win, and we have more to offer I feel as well. Lets enjoy the day lads. An Mhí abú.

Delighted with the character and composure of the team. That is some difference than previous years. We never panicked. Lots to work on. But we won in a canter to be fair. And once that first goal went in we were always going to win. Great performance from O'Sullivan a player who at times I have been critical of, keoghan immense as usual, mcentee another great game, covered every blade of grass, Morris shined again as did Costello, McMahon went totally out of position, hickey wallace scully and Conlon all added to the team. Jones and menton did ok in middle against one of the best midfielders in country, McGill another great display, O'Reilly had a much better game today as did walsh. Also thought Brennan had as good a day as a Meath keeper that I've seen in long time.
We have a Leinster final to look forward to.

Great to batter Kildare after the hiding they gave us in 2017.

Worrying we only scored 9 points against a Div 2 team when we've aspirations challenging Dublin. We won't get those Goal opportunities in the final.

I thought the big open Croke Park pitch would have suited us more. 4 points on the board at half time was poor.

But what seems to have improved greatly since last year is our fitness and ability to stay with a team right to the end. Kildare struggled to keep up with us in the 3rd quarter. Or Maybe their heads were gone.

Finally: In 2010 we scored 5-9 in a Leinster semi final. 2020 we do the same... Just saying!

There are two ways of looking at 5-9, it will win most matches but the last time we hit 5-9 we followed it up with a very flat performance, one that left a long hangover.
Seriously though we will need to score a lot more points against any worthwhile opposition. Still great to be alive and it means the Dublin will not be able to flood men forward in droves as they will need to keep more than the usual quota back or they could easily concede goals....hopefully.

What a great 2nd half display, tbh I really thought it was going to be one of those days at half time. Good peformances all over the pitch in the 2nd half and alot more confidence shown of keeping onto the ball etc that we havent had in previous years. Not saying we will beat the dubs but with the forwards we now have on the panel we should be closer to them . The amount of work COS is doing is unreal his fitness levels are crazy and really hope he will be ok for the Final.

Agreed for the most part. Great win and fantastic character shown in the second half. Would have to disagree re the mcgill having a great performance. I thought him lavin and toner for large parts of the game were given their fill of it by the likes of hyland kirwan and Daniel flynn when he came on and struggled. We wore them down physically and were ruthless in front of goal which was great to see but i thought the kildare inside forwards got the better of our full back line for the majority of the game and in particular the first half so improvement needed there. Overall a great win and we looked really powerful at times.

I think he could be in trouble. Looked very groggy going off. It was a sneaky nasty hit and the lad should have been sent off for it

Very good 2nd half today but still worried about next week. We are quite slow moving the ball forward and weak on our own long kickouts meaning Dublin will try and squeeze us. With good quick ball in, we can do damage but trouble will be getting that far. Corner backs were under big pressure as they will be next week. Midfield came into it in 2nd half but very quiet in 1st particularly Menton. COS was excellent but McMahon struggled and against Dublin we probably need a more physical presence at 11. Would be tempted to move Walsh out. Costello was brilliant again as was Morris while O'Reilly did well with scraps. Some of our kicking and handpasses were loose and soft frees given away too. Our intensity must be better from the start. Looking at Dublin now more than ever, everything seems to go through Fenton and Kilkenny so they need special attention as always. Stopping their influence could give us a platform in game but major improvement needed again. Sure its good to have another weekend to look forward to at!

A good second half display but we gave a poor Kildare team a 6 point halftime lead. We gave every team in division 1 a lead this year through no proper kick out strategy and that why we didnt manage to win a game. We are 4 years looking at this. Every team knows to pressure our kick out. If we are to have any chance against Dublin we need to be at least level at halftime.
