Fair play nobber"
Nobber still the worst, sure the news that has filtered through post match tells us simonstown clearly a bit worse for wear. Great for nobber, stay in senior.. but with with a massive asterix beside them. Same as if kells go on to win senior, won't be the same as a normal year, they prob know that themselves tho in fairness

An extra week is needed to decide who goes down so that could have been quarter final weekend. Not sure who the CB were trying to facilitate as that decision does little to improve our club football."
Fair enough. But Mayo only have 4 senior hurling teams (their SHC is finished in 3 games) whereas we have 12. Unfortunately, our hurling championships' structures are rather convoluted as a result meaning it takes longer than it should if we only had 8 teams.
I'm happy that the CB decided to ease players into the season with 2 league games (which were played with county players) rather than go straight into championship football after almost 4 months with no competitive games. Had the county board done this and some players got seriously injured, you would have had people here complaining about going straight into championship intensity with no league games.
It's not ideal but these are extraordinary circumstances and next season when, hopefully, everything is back to some semblance of normality, it'll be top 2 into the quarter finals as was originally planned.

Group A
Sorted as Summerhill in Semis and Curraha in Relegation

Group B Don/Ash v Na Fianna looks a big game. Ash win they have it. Na Fianna win they have it unless Seneschalstown beat OMahonys by 14 and hope Na Fianna win by 4 or less then the Yellow Fruze top group. Unlikely.. Think OMahonys will send Sench to relegation

Group C
Ratoath look certain top Group. Simonstown if they win and Nobber lose then STG will top group. A Nobber win will as good as put Ratoath through on score difference even if Raoath lose. Again unlikely as I expect Skryne to beat Nobber and send the North Meath men to Relegation

Group D
Kells have it as even if they lose to Dunshaughlin as they have beaten both Dunboyne and St Colmcilles they still go through on head to head. Dunshaughlin in Relegation no matter what.

Preseume its A V D and B v C so

Summerhill v Kells and Don/Ash v Ratoath

Relegation
Curraha v Dunshaughlin and Seneschalstown v Nobber

I streamed the Dunboyne Kells game. I thought Dunboyne looked like a serious outfit after the first 10 minutes and were going to blow Kells away. Fair play to Kells for coming back and I think it is between them and Ratoath.
That drop is decided already with Kells in the semi and Dunshauglin in the relegation play off

Other way round It's A v C and B v D so would mean Summerhill Vs Ratoath and Kells Vs Don/Ash

I believe it is Summerhill v Ratoath and Kells v Ash/ Na Fianna, same format for relegation

I still don't know how Dunboyne managed to lose a game where they dominated midfield for almost the entire match.
They also should have had 2/3 goals in the first 15 minutes.
I don't know if the lads on the stream were being serious or just fulfilling their roles when they said it was the best game in the Park in years. Seemed low on quality to me.
Kells got their few quickfire goals and reverted to a blanket with 15 men behind the ball for the last quarter. Terrible to watch.
Dunboyne were walking through them at times before that l as their backline looked weak.
Summerhill or Ratoath will win it for me.

Dunboyne always look like that in first half of matches and you sit back and think they should be competing for Leinsters, not just the Keegan cup. . They are a bit of an enigma - prob best starting 15 in the county I'd say and half them are fitness fanatics yet they don't achieve near as much as they should in my opinion. Is there a reason for this does anyone know, why so hot and cold? Perhaps missing another scoring forward or two as they rely a lot on Lenihan and McCarthy.

Yes your probably right regarding the first half of matches, they seem to steam roll opposition for a certain period each time but regarding the game on Sunday, the two water breaks were vital to Kells success, they came at the right time. As someone mentioned earlier, Dunboyne had the winning of midfield with Ronan Jones fielding a lot of kick outs but for Dunboyne's own demise, a short kick out cost them the championship as well as composure on front of goal, not been clinical enough. It was also mentioned at the end of full time when watching it, the referee only played 42 seconds injury time with at least half a dozen subs used in second half.
Looks like Ratoath's to lose i'd say.

There will be no asterix beside any name this season. Whoever wins will deserve it. Whoever stays up will deserve it (and Nobber are not yet guaranteed to stay up).
The fact you're seriously sticking with Nobber being the worst team (presumably because they're North Meath and Longwood are South Meath) is laughable when they've just beaten the champions of 3 years ago. Longwood were hopeless (no offence to them) as is evidenced that they've lost both games in the IFC so far (including against a side that was Junior last season).

Nobody can take it away from Nobber. To come back like that from their 1st round disaster was fantastic and deserves an award itself. This shows great fighting attitude regardless of who claims keegan.

But what is the story with Simonstown and the positive covid test. Will they be able to continue in the championship? Have Nobber a concern after playing them re covid? ,Has it implications for finishing the championship?

Couldn't agree with you more!

This years championship across all grades - short time frame to get ready, most players available to all clubs, less second chances than previous years - whoever wins it (senior, Inter and Junior and Premier too for that matter!) - deserves lots of praise

As for Nobber - I agree with you there too! I thought Simonstown would be real contenders this year - and they may still be! It will be interesting to see how Nobber fair against Skryne - if they win that they will have more than proven themselves!

The achievement will be to play a championship at all. Clubs main challenge is to keep all of their squad clear of virus and able to play. To not put that 1st priority could end in disaster and have longer term consequences for players and their families.

To put winning a championship medal before that would be very shortsighted. Club success will be keeping your squad healthy, involved, and fit. Aim to be in a good position when pandemic clears

Ashrules, stop watching the news . Its great to have football back . All clubs are doing everything they can to prevent players getting the virus but to say just getting a team on the field is an achievement is very negative. Next thing we will be all stuck indoors again...for players mental health alone and the mental health of all , isolated clusters will happen. We have to plough on. Im sure Kells or Trim or St Vincents wont be worrying about Corona virus for their up coming Semi final. Let football prevail. Long enough locked at home.

Fri 28th Aug 20
Fairyhouse Steel - Senior Football Championship - Group A

19:30
Bhulf Tón Clg
v
Moynalvey

19:30
Summerhill
v
Curraha

* Summerhill have this in their own hands and look good for a semi final spot. They have beaten both Moynalvey Tones so even if they lose to Curraha I think they go through? I think the Tones Moynalvey game will be tight but I fancy Moynalvey to scrape it.

Curraha into relegation play off

Sat 29th Aug 20
Fairyhouse Steel - Senior Football Championship - Group B

18:00
Navan O'Mahonys
v
Seneschalstown GFC

18:00
Na Fianna CLG
v
Donaghmore / Ashbourne

* I think Don/Ash will make it a clean sweep in this group although I do think Na Fianna will put it up to them on Saturday. I think NOM are relegation playoff bound!

Sun 30th Aug 20
Fairyhouse Steel - Senior Football Championship - Group D

15:00
Dunshaughlin GAA
v
Gaeil Colmcille

15:00
St. Colmcille's
v
St Peter's, Dunboyne

* Gaeil Colmcille lead the way in this group while Dunshauglin look relegation playoff bound. I find it hard to imagine a surprise in that game - and I can't see Dunboyne losing the other! However, by my reckoning GC will take this group no matter what results transpire !

Fairyhouse Steel - Senior Football Championship - Group C

16:00
Skryne
v
Nobber

16:00
Ratoath
v
Simonstown

This will be the most interesting group to round out - all teams have something to play for! Both games are hard to call - but I think Nobber will take Scrin and I am going to go with a Ratoath win (just) in the other.

That would leave the 4 teams in relegation as Curraha, NOM, Dunshaughlin and Scrin - so a really interesting play off!!

Bhulf Tón Clg v Moynalvey - Tight to call this and a draw would be no surprise but I'll go for Tones, just.

Summerhill v Curraha - Again I think this could be close but Summerhill to prevail

Navan O'Mahonys v Seneschalstown - Navan seem in disarray at the minute, Seneschalstown to compound their misery

Na Fianna v Donaghmore/Ash - Don/Ash to finish 3 wins from 3 but Na Fianna will give them plenty to think about

Dunshaughlin v Gaeil Colmcille - Kells to pile more misery on Dunshaughlin

St. Colmcille's v St Peter's, Dunboyne - Dunboyne should have too much for the Cillies

Skryne v Nobber - Skryne have given both Simonstown and Ratoath tough times in their games but ultimately came away with nothing, Nobber on a high following their win over Simonstown, I think Nobber will prevail

Ratoath v Simonstown - The standout game of the round, I expect Simonstown to throw the kitchen sink at this but Ratoath had a wake up call against Skryne and I expect them to perform much better and to win.

Navan O'Mahonys v Seneschalstown O Mahonys will not want to lose this one and will sneak it

Na Fianna v Donaghmore/Ash If Na Fianna turn up and are up for it on the day they will win

Dunshaughlin v Gaeil Colmcille Kells to win easy enough

St. Colmcille's v St Peter's, Dunboyne backlash win easy enough
