I know it's a very long shot. But could we turn them over?? royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 21/02/2020 08:05:14 2268717 Link 1 |
I can't see it to be honest. Kerry are the best team we have played in the league so far so i expect we will get beaten. Obviously we would all be more confident if we had held on to beat Mayo the last day and it doesn't help that Kerry lost too so they will be even more fired up for two points on Sunday.

Totally agree.

I think your point about Kerry losing is valid! They will be really up for this game - as always they consider themselves the real deal but a loss to Galway will have been a right slap in the face for them! While the league won't be their main focus I have no doubt they won't want to be dragged into talk of relegation etc and the way the games have gone to date it won't be too hard for teams to get dragged into the relegation situation! That said, I think this Meath team is better than the results they have gotten and better than the performances they have shown to date in the league - I think we will give a good account of ourselves. But a win in Kerry against Kerry will be the best result we have achieved in many years - not impossible but a big ask!! ASaminthehand (Meath) - Posts: 422 - 21/02/2020 11:25:38 2268757 Link 0 |
Interesting there is so little talk of this on here, when in reality this could be one of our highest attended league away games in recent memory. Suggests there is a disparity between people posting on here and attending games. dunboynelad (Meath) - Posts: 227 - 21/02/2020 11:47:21 2268767 Link 0 |
A correction needed here, Kerry beat Galway in Round 2 of the NFL but lost to Tyrone in Tyrone in Round 3. This form would indicate that Kerry are not invincible but in front of their own supporters they are a different "animal" to quote a former great. At this stage I would be hoping for a performance, with 100% effort, the minimum of self inflicted errors from the players and some evidence of a kick out strategy from the management with early intervention if we are struggling in certain areas of the field. If we can achieve the above we are in with a chance. But to date we have not managed that and that is the main reason we are pointless after three rounds. Granted we are short some would be starting players but then I think most other counties are in the same boat so what is being tested in this League is each counties strength in depth, absent players should not be used as an excuse, in reality our credentials to be a top team is being tested. So where to now? Relegation is looming on the horizon. This would be simply a glitch in the team's development. If relegated, a disaster would failure not to be promoted the following year when the team may be more developed and also acutely aware of the realities of life with the big boys. Been to all 3 games to date and the answer is a big NO. Simply toothless up front and unfortunately too many same type players. They are good players but they will get eaten up by Kerry. Talking_Sense (Meath) - Posts: 209 - 21/02/2020 14:49:26 2268811 Link 1 |
I agree that it will probably be our best attented away game that ive seen but i honestly believe thats because its in Kerry. Kerry away is the glamour trip, Monaghan, Tyrone or dublin wouldnt be near as much craic as a weekend in Kilarney. Everyone ive met that is travelling down is doing so because its a great trip none think we've any hope. We've been decimated by injuries but i think morale in the county is very low at the minute, we all looked forward to getting back up and at least causing problems so its been disheartening so far. I was only thinking earlier ive never seen the forum as quiet and to think we're playing the biggest county in gaelic football. Wish I was going down for weekend, instead I'm driving off at about 8.30 to get there then driving back.

Expect many booked their trip when fixtures were announced, poor results to date, forecast of poor weather and the fact our U20s play Dublin 24hrs earlier may result in many not travelling. Still expect a reasonable crowd all things considered. seadog54 (Meath) - Posts: 2195 - 21/02/2020 20:05:20 2268873 Link 14 |

You know throw-in is 1:00? Maybe you knew, just thought 8:30 was tight enough.

Came down to killarney yesterday with the wife and kids and there seems to be plenty of meath people around, lots of kids running around the hotel bar last night with meath jerseys on which is great to see, the weather seems to be improving a bit today so hopefully it be dry for the match tomorrow, admittedly for a optimistic person like myself I think we be doing well to get a result tomorrow but you never know theres always hope, where theres a will theres a way. Hon the royals and a safe journey to all meath people making there way to the match this weekend. Royal.Legend (Meath) - Posts: 681 - 22/02/2020 11:04:19 2268945 Link 1 |
I assume this is a dummy team and we won't see Shane walsh or Ronan Jones playing? Shane is playing Saturday and Ronan flew off (unless he is home again, if he has that is phenomenal commitment) Thejoeshow (Meath) - Posts: 687 - 22/02/2020 11:28:54 2268950 Link 0 |

Well thank you for that, I was thinking about 2 throw in, Jesus that would have been very tight. Ok it's 7.30 start then.
