3 seems to be the general consensus

Why all the negativity. Pauric Joyce said Galways aim is to win Sam. Defeatist attitude in Meath trying to avoid relegation.

I think Andy will not have a negative attitude but the reality is that it's very likely that we will be touch and go to stay up as there is quite a difference between div 1 and div 2 teams.

No Friday night lights for Dublin vs Meath as CCCC reject proposal

The GAA explores the possibility of a Friday night match between Dublin and Meath next March but it has been rejected in favour of a Sunday afternoon throw-in.

The Leinster rivals had been provisionally fixed to meet on Saturday, March 14 in Croke Park in the sixth round of next year's Allianz League Division 1 programme, Meath's first top flight campaign since 2006.

However, after a request from Meath, the GAA's Central Competition Control Committee (CCCC) examined the possibility of moving the game forward by 24 hours.

It is understood Dublin were in agreement with the rearranged date and time and that the CCCC collated feedback from both counties.

Due to the relatively small distance Meath would be required to travel, there was initial optimism that the GAA would look favourably on the request. However, it is understood the CCCC favour a Sunday afternoon throw-in, a fixture that will be finalised next weekend.

**Interesting piece from the Indo above, seems fixtures will be finalised next week.

Good call. Friday night would be unfair on players and supporters

This was request by the Meath panel and agreed by Dublin, not unfair on players in anyway

Think this is a missed opportunity to be honest. Game could have been played at 8pm and lads would have had minimal impact to their working day.

As the two counties are located close together and the players are working in dublin, its a different scenario the Laois Carlow game a few years back where the players had to travel down and I think throw in was at 7pm due to lights.

I would have liked to see it, would have been an easy way to start the weekend.

Think we've a good chance of doing well in this competition. Great experience for the lads. Will bring us on. Move the ball fast and don't be messing around with it

Unfair. Will ye go away out of that. Sure club players players league games mid week all the time . Home and away and i never here anyone moaning about it being unfair. You see League of Ireland games on week nights and the players and supporters work during the day. God forbid the precious county player would have to do a days work and go off playing a match at night. That would be terrible. Would have been great to play friday night under lights in croker.

Ah shur I know a lad who plays cards on a Friday night therefore county games should be on a Friday too. Some logic you have comparing professional soccer to gaa county players.

Professional soccer players? 90% of the players in the league of Ireland are part time and have day jobs. That's my point. They work during the day and go off and play games at night . Whats the problem? Club players do it year in year out yet it wouldn't be fair to ask county players to do it once . Ridiculous

Players called up to the Meath panel. These players have been definatly called up
Donal Lenihan, Jack O Connor, David Toner , Oisin O Brien , Brian Conlon , Paddy Kennelly , Jordan Morris , Thomas Murtagh , Matthew Costello, Caolach Halligan and Harry Hogan.

Players dropped from Meath panel
eg Marcus Brennan , Adam Flanagan , Shane Glynn and Owen McDonnell.

Just regards Marcus Brennan he is no longer part of the playing panel , but he is now part of the goalkeeper coaching team.
I think player people might not know is Harry Hogan. He is longwood Under 21 goalie and Dundalk under 19 soccer goalie. Clearly Gary Rodgers would have drawn him to the attention of the management. He is very highly thought of in Dundalk. And this how Donegal found Patton , who is one best gaa goalies in the country now. Patton was a soccer goalie with Derry City, he was brought onto Donegal panel and he became an excellent gaelic football goalie. Hogan is probaly replacing Marcus Brennan as a choice for goalie.

PS Any news on Ruari O Coilean or Alan Forde and is Ronan Jones definately staying in the US next year? That would be a pity if that is true , he would be a real option at midfield. But Conlon and kennellys return will give more choices to midfield.
