My god what a shambles. What happens if Skyrne win their appeal? How do they get them back into the tournament

Replying To BigJoe14:  "Maybe the CCC are just tired of seeing the same club(s) coming back at them regarding discipline issues on the field and on the sideline. Any club involved in a brawl at a GAA game shouldn't have a leg to stand on. Those clubs should get their own house in order before pointing the finger elsewhere. To many of the same clubs every year have issues with behaviour from mentors and players and never accept responsibility for their own often disgraceful behaviour, which if took place on the street would result in arrests, but when some clubs/people enter the gates of a GAA pitch they feel they have, and often do have, free reign to knock the heads of people and start all out brawls. One or two clubs in the county seem to revel in this sort of carry on and by the goings on of their players and mentors during matches they are just waiting for the first opportunity to start a riot!"
I am certainly not trying to promote violence or any sort of assault on a sports field, in my clubs appeal this year it didn't concern a brawl or assault etc, it was where a genuine mistake was made by a referee after he was giving bad advice from another official resulting in a red card, a score been chalked off the scoreboard and the ball been brought back to where alleged strike took place for a hop ball, the player involved later appealed the red card with video evidence and an apology was issued for the mistake but it still meant us been knocked out of the championship by a point after an error from match official.we got the excuse of a clerical error in our appeal as an excuse for no hearing, in other words they were not interested, just get on with it and keep the championship moving. On another note i don't think the ccc have the power to throw teams out of a championship because of a mass brawl, there must be an investigation, if clubs don't participate in investigation well then there would be grounds to throw them out but it sounds like one team were certainly participating in the investigation if they have appealed it to leinster council and will probably win their case if proven they did engage with ccc.glad someone called them out, bring back jimmy henry, all is forgiving

I think it's just pure and utter madness the fixture mess in the county this year. Players having to play 2/3 games a week at the end of November in the worst of weather conditions, when during the summer there was 6/7 weeks of no football what so ever. The U21 competition has been disrespected for years now and is just ran off at the end of the year to get it over with. The county board need to ask themselves are they actually interested in promoting and developing quality football in Meath or do they just want to continue with this box ticking set up we currently have where competitions are just ran off at any time just to get it done and dusted. We keep hearing about how this new fixture set up next year will improve everything, but there is still no sign of what next year will look like.

County board issued a mail saying if Ratoath won the hurling would be rescheduled
If Na Fianna has won they could have played dunboyne on Sunday - allowing of course for the skryne appeal

Look that sounds great playing it in the summer when the weather is good. But that's also went student are on J1's, going travelling. Look at Summer leagues or the under 19's last year. Big clubs are left with shells of a team and smaller clubs are left with no team. Also in Na Fianna's case that means Ethan Devine and Shane Walsh aren't playing because of the Meath seniors. It just isn't feasible

If that's the case why announce the provisional fixture if it was 50/50 to happen. Surely that doesn't make sense

There is no harm in a bit of constructive criticism Pat, we have moved on and so too will skyrne, the ccc have to put their hands up however and admit mistakes, a person who never made a mistake never made anything !!

Don't know what Leitrim Royal has heard but I heard this morning that the football final has been moved to Friday the 29th in Dunganny! Leitrim Royal does that tally with what you have heard?

2 comments on this;

* A lot of the lads playing 21's work part time - I know lads from both teams who arranged to have this Sunday off! They will now need to arrange to have next Friday night off!

* A shame for those who will want to go and watch it - I think it is an awful venue for watching games at this time of the year!

Not a particularly nice way to finish up what should be a great competition!

Anyway - let's see what comes out from the fixtures committee today.

Donaghmore/Ashbourne closed their pitch this week for maintenance.

ok fair enough. why not just leave it until the sunday then. 2 days will hardly make a difference. Dunganny awful place for a big final like that

Isn't the annual race day on the Sunday?

If I'm right then I'd say there would be no games that day and there's Kehoe Fup hurling in navan on the Saturday.

Heard Friday but didn't hear a venue. Dunganny is ludicrous. Surely they could put it in Dunshaughlin. Better pitch and much closer to both Dunboyne and Ratoath

Really making a joke of the competition if the game is played in Dunganny, not even a scoreboard for the u21 top grade final in Meath club football, no wonder we have gone back so far. Should just cancel the competition if this is the way they will treat it.

Heard today that the final has now been rescheduled for Ashbourne on Saturday? Has anyone else heard this?
It seems ludicrous that on the Monday of the week that the Under 21 County Championship is on - there has been no confirmation of either the venue or the day?
Please God the two teams know!!

Think it is now back to Friday in Ashbourne. And can confirm, teams don't 100% know

Ye believe Division 1 is in Ashbourne Friday. Other two finals on in Dunganny same night. County board are farcical. What's wrong with Saturday or Sunday? Eleven months to run competitions off and then cram everything into one night. Fixtures committee take a bow.

Yep - I spoke with 2 of the lads this morning in DIT - one from both team - and so far it seems it is just word of mouth that it is Friday night!

Honestly - I think this is disgraceful! Do the County Board not realise that a lot of these lads work part time and Friday night is a big night for some of them!
