Gertrude was a sister of the famous Quinn brothers from Kilbride. Martin, Jack and Gerry all represented the county on All-Ireland final day in 1966 when Galway proved our betters. Jack was a star full back the following year as Cork were beaten in the decider. Jimmy was a teak tough defender at club level and he and his brothers helped make Kilbride the top team in the county. Gertrude was a big follower of Meath then remained so.
