Allen, Joe

Joe made his way on to the Blues Senior team in 1952 and was the regular goalkeeper from then until he emigrated at the end of the 1955 season. In that time he played in two Senior Finals and a Semi Final. His first year, 1952, saw Skryne defeated by Syddan in the Final where Joe kept a clean sheet with some spectacular saves.

He had an excellent season the following year, 1953, when he was ever present on the team defeated by Trim after two replays in the Semi Final. He was rewarded for his efforts when Skryne won the Keegan Cup in 1954 with Joe once again keeping a clean sheet in the 1-5 to 0-4 victory over Kells Harps. His brothers Mick and Pete also proudly wore the Blue of Skryne.
