Tomo Culhane struck a dramatic late goal to secure Salthill-Knocknacarra a thrilling 2-12 to 1-14 victory over Moycullen in the Galway senior football championship final at Pearse Stadium.
In a gripping contest that went right down to the wire, Salthill looked to have been dealt a major blow when Peter Cooke landed a superb two-point score in stoppage time to put the holders in front.
However, Salthill-Knocknacarra refused to surrender, launching one final attack in search of a winning score.
Matthew Thompson delivered the decisive pass for substitute Culhane, who found the net to spark jubilant celebrations among the Salthill supporters.
The late goal capped a dramatic finish to a fiercely contested county final, with both sides producing a memorable battle for the Frank Fox Cup.
The victory sees Salthill-Knocknacarra claim their fourth SFC title and their first since 2012, while Moycullen were left heartbroken in their bid to secure back-to-back county championships.
