And just like that we are down to the final round of the top five divisions in the football league. What started out in mid March will conclude the Sunday and by then we will know our semi finalists, our relegation semi finalists and five teams who will be relegated.
The semi finalists are already known in Division One and all four are out tomorrow night. What’s the chance that the same pairings will be in the last four? Relegation hangs over Skryne, Donaghmore Ashbourne, Na Fianna and Moynalvey.
Division 2 is a much tighter affair. O’Mahony’s lead the way but are only a point ahead of Oldcastle, Simonstown and Dulee Bellewstown and two in front of Seneschalstown and Meath Hill. Last year’s JFC finalists Clann na nGael and St. Vincents are relegated.
Slane and St. Michaels are assured of a place in the semi final of Division 3. Two from Castletown, Kilbride, Dunderry and Curraha will fill the remaining two spots. Ballivor are relegated with Kilmainham, Dunsany, Syddan, Donaghmore Ashbourne and Blackhall Gaels looking over their shoulder.
Bective and St. Brigids have secured a semi final spot in Division 4. Two from Ratoath, Dunboyne and Drumbaragh will join them. Skryne are relegated. Two from St. Ultan’s, Longwood and St. Colmcilles will contest the relegation semi final.
Unbeated Gaeil Colmcille and Kilmainhamwood are into the Division 5 semi final. The top two play each other. Moylagh and Duleek Bellewstown are the favourites to join them in the knockouts. Navan O’Mahony’s are relegated.
Teams finishing on level points explained:
As the Adult League competitions approach their concluding stages, clubs are reminded that where teams finish level on league points for qualification, promotion or relegation purposes, placings will be decided in accordance with GAA Official Code 11.1 2026.
Ties will be decided in the following order:
1. Higher number of league points obtained in the Head-to-Head games between the teams involved.
2. Higher scoring difference in the Head-to-Head games.
3. Higher scores for in the Head-to-Head games.
4. If teams remain level, the above criteria are reapplied to the teams still tied.
5. Higher scoring difference in all games in the league group.
6. Higher scores for in all games in the league group.
7. A play-off.
Clubs should also note that games awarded without a score, including walkovers, are dealt with under the provisions of Code 11.1, with average scores applied as appropriate.
