A row erupted before the throw-in in this afternoon’s Allianz Football League clash between Meath and Louth at Croke Park which resulted in four players being black carded.
The fiery start to the derby Division 2 encounter saw Meath’s Seamus Lavin and Sean Rafferty and Louth pair Ciaran Downey and Sam Mulroy all being shown black cards by Kerry referee Brendan Griffin.
The game, a repeat of last year’s Leinster SFC final, saw the Royals go on to dominate large portions of the first-half as 1-3 from Ruairi Kinsella helped them towards a commanding 1-15 to 0-7 half-time lead, with Sean Brennan saving a penalty from Mulroy on the eve of the interval.
