
Three spectators were treated for injuries after a fence gave way during the celebrations which followed St Kieran's College's Leinster Post Primary Schools Senior Hurling 'A' Championship final victory over city rivals Kilkenny CBC at UPMC Nowlan Park last weekend.
In a statement released to local radio station KCLR, Kilkenny GAA confirmed that the incident occurred when players approached supporters in Ardán de Grás as St Kieran's celebrated their latest Corn Uí Dhuill success.
The spokeperson said: “Following the Leinster Senior Hurling Post Primary Schools Final at UPMC Nowlan Park, an incident occurred during post-match celebrations when players approached supporters in Ardán de Grás. A section of pitch-side fencing gave way, resulting in a number of supporters falling.
"Three supporters required medical attention, and a response plan was put in place by the County Board Medical Team to treat the individuals.
“The safety and wellbeing of all those in attendance is taken seriously. The incident has been noted and the appropriate parties have been informed.
"At this time, out of respect to all parties involved no further comment will be made.”
