Ballinabrackey GAA is in mourning this week following the death of one of their most cherished supporters, Kathleen Carroll.
'The Queen of Ballinabrackey', Kathleen, whose death took place at her home on Thursday, was in her 94th year and will be remembered fondly by all that knew her.
Few family names have been as synonymous with GAA in Castlejordan and Ballinabrackey as Carroll and as the matriarch of the family, Kathleen maintained great pride in her club and was proud of its various achievements, with her sons Michael and Pat always prominent, having donned the green and gold for years, while her grandsons Damien, David and Dean lined out together for the 'Bracks' in last year's Senior Championship.
Ballinabrackey GAA has paid a lovely tribute to the late Kathleen Carroll on Facebook.
It is with breaking hearts that we pass on our Sincere Condolences to the Carroll family on the passing of The Queen of Ballinabrackey Mrs Carroll.
Mrs Carroll was a lifelong Super Supporter of Ballinabrackey. She made sure her love for The Bracks was passed on to the next generation with her children and grandchildren not only playing ball for Ballinabrackey but taking up many roles within the club. She was often seen in the last few years with the best view in the Boyne Park in Catherine's car in the top corner.
She was always so proud when Ballinabrackey brought some silverware home especially when Damien and David were involved.
At this years AGM Mrs Carroll was voted in as our Club President.
Mrs Carroll was a great character to all who knew her and always had the door open for anyone who wanted to call for a cuppa and to talk football.
We send our thoughts and prayers to her loving family sons Michael and his wife Catherine, Pat and his wife Felicity, daughters Patricia and her husband Joe, Elizabeth and her husband Noel, grandchildren Siobhan, Lorraine, Damien, Maria, Teresa, Caroline, Shannon, Amanda, David, Dean, Josh, Tara, Declan and their partners, great-grandchildren Saoirse, Callum, Emma, Sophie, Éilís and Cadhlá, nieces, nephews.
Mrs Carroll will repose at her Home on Saturday from 4pm to 8pm with Rosary at 8pm.
Funeral Mass on Sunday at 1.30 in The Church of the Assumption Ballinabrackey.
