Former Galway forward John Donnellan has rejoined the Breaffy management team ahead of the 2026 season.
A member of the Tribesmen's 2001 All-Ireland SFC winning squad along with his brother Michael, and a noted free-taker in his day, Donnellan links up with manager Sean Deane, who led Breaffy to a Mayo Division 1 League title this year before losing out to Westport in the Mayo SFC quarter-final. Donnellan was previously involved with the West Mayo outfit.
The Donnellan name is synonymous with both Dunmore MacHales and Galway, with John and Michael having followed in their father John Snr and grandfather Mick’s footsteps in winning the Sam Maguire. John coached Eastern Gaels to a Mayo JFC final appearance this year and previously managed the Galway minors as well as a number of clubs in the West and Midlands.
Donnellan replaces Armagh native and former Mayo minor coach Shane McCann in the management set-up.
