Castletown 5-14 Duleek/Bellewstown 0-8
Castletown got their Intermediate challenge back on track with this 21 point demolition of Duleek Bellewstown in Seneschalstown on Saturday evening.
Duleek Bellewstown started the stronger with the opening 2 points then Castletown kicked into gear with points from play for the both excellent Rian McConnell and Darragh Weldon from play. On 19 minutes a penalty from McConnell and two minutes later he converted a free to give Castletown the lead. Between the two scores an altercation off the ball left both sides down to 14 men. Dul/ Bel scored their last score of the opening period but Castletown kicked on with a further 1-1 from Mc Connell and points for Weldon and Declan Cribbin to lead by nine points 2-9 to 0-6 at the break.
Duleek Bellewstown who had that great win against Navan O'Mahonys in round one scored the opening two scores of the second half but scores from McConnell and Cribbin for Castletown restored their halftime lead. With 46 minutes on the clock Weldon scored the first of his two second half goals to leave 12 points between the sides and the game over as a contest.
Further scores a goal from Darren Finney who was in brilliant form and covered every blade of grass in Seneschalstown and two points from Daragh Kelly, one from second half substitute Daniel Moran, two from Weldon and a further points from Mc Connell to take his tally to 2-5 for Castletown to win this match by 21pts. All Castletown's scores were from play bar 1-1.
