Dunderry 2-19 St. Ultans 3-11
Dunderry were under pressure after a defeat in the first round.
A Ciarán Sheridan point was a great start but when he followed it up with a goal it was even better. The goal came about after Barron broke around the end line and crossed for Sheridan who made no mistake. The next play saw Ó Laoire send the ball towards Kelly- he was fouled and taped over the free. Mark Leavy and Sheridan combined next, the latter scoring. Wing back Liggan cut through the Ultans defence for the next point off the left. Cathal Barron collected the resulting kick out and he pointed from the same spot as Liggan with the left also. Sheridan got on the next ball - did all the hard work and off loaded to Liggan who duly tapped over from the same spot , again with the left peg.
Sixteen minutes on the clock before Fays men scored - a fine two pointer. Dunderry answered that when Brennan slotted over a free just inside the arc. Oisin O Neill found Sheridan in space who dropped out the Kelly who netted superbly for the Village.
The Ultans score another two pointer and an old fashioned point from play before they commit an infringement with the three up rule and Kelly tapped over the free.
Barron and Bartley combined well and passed out to Conor Leavy who hit a fine score. Bartley was involved again - this time with Sheridan who was pulled down and Kelly converted the free kick. A free to the Ultans saw the score at the interval 2-10 to 0-6.
The second have commenced and the Martry men attacked but failed to register a score. Brennos kick out was inch perfect to Sheridan who put it on an plate for Kelly who opened his second half account. Meadstowns finest banged a peach of a two pointer next before Conor Sheridan linked up with him again for yet another point. Donagh and Callum interlinked well up the line and when Cathal came at speed the result was a finely fisted point. The green and blacks hit back with a goal and point from play leaving the score 2-15 to 0-10.
Liggan intersected the kick out - and passed decisively to O Neill who took his score neatly. Darren Fay's men weren't done however and hit us with another goal and three from play before Brennan strolled up and converted a beauty of a two pointer free after Mark Leavy was pulled down.
In a few minutes very similar to the hurling last week - we cough up a penalty only for Mark Leavy to break through and score with his left to end proceedings.
A good week for the club.
