SHC: Second half scoring burst secures two from two for Trim

Trim 3-22 Na Fianna 1-17

After an opening round win over neighbours Dunderry Trim continued on their winning ways with this 11 point victory over Na Fianna in Group B of the Meath SHC on Pitch 6 at Dunganny.

Na Fianna fresh from their first round win over O’Mahony’s impressed in the opening 30 and were only two points in arrears at the break. George Douglas got the scoreboard working for the winners but by the 10th minute Na Fianna were three in front thanks to a Rory Fagan brace and one from Mark and Peter Slevin. Trim enjoyed their first purple patch in the game soon after. Mikey Cole finished a scoring spree that yielded 1-4 with the games first goal. Trim were five in front with five minutes to go but Na Fianna finished with three points through Fagan (2) and full forward Mark Slevin to go in at the break 0-12 to 1-11 down.

Trim came out a different team in the second half a secured the win with 2-5 in the opening ten minutes. Referee Ciaran Flynn had only thrown in the ball when Douglas was in for goal number 2 and following points from Joey Cole, Douglas and Darragh Heffernan (2), Mikey Cole put the Reds nine points in front with his second goal. Peter Slevin gave Na Fianna some hope after 20 minutes with a goal but by then last years finalists were well on their way to win number 2.
