Tipperary are Munster U20 hurling champions for the second year in-a-row after a 3-19 to 1-20 win over Clare at the TUS Gaelic Grounds last night.
Senior star Darragh McCarthy struck 1-8 for the Premier County, including a 47th minute penalty which proved key in putting them on the path to victory.
Oisin O’Donoghue’s goal 13 minutes in helped Tipp to edge a 1-11 to 0-13 lead by half-time before Fred Hegarty (1-12) steered Clare in front with the first three points of the second-half.

O’Donoghue’s point would square things up for Tipp ahead of Hegarty netting a penalty for the Banner lads at the other end, and a free from the latter had the scoreboard reading 1-18 to 1-14 in Clare’s favour with a quarter of an hour to go.
However, the leaders would be reduced to 14 men when Jamie Moylan was black-carded and McCarthy’s penalty would be backed up by another green flag from Cathal English in the 51st minute and, from there, Tipperary would see out the win to claim the provincial honours.
