Westmeath moved into the All-Ireland U20 B football championship final thanks to a 3-20 to 0-17 win over Leitrim at Dr Hyde Park yesterday evening.
Shane Corcoran’s goal inside two minutes gave Westmeath the perfect start and another from Adam Keane would see his side up by seven points after 10 minutes.
Corcoran grabbed his second goal in the run up to half-time, leaving it at 3-10 to 0-9 when the sides went in at the break, and they’d keep the points coming in the second-half to seal victory.
Jack Duncan, Corcoran and ‘keeper Luke Nicholson (‘45’) were among those to send over scores after the change of ends for Kenny McKinley’s lads.
The 12-point win means that Westmeath now face Monaghan in the final with fixture details for that clash yet to be confirmed.
