HL Div 2: Three from three for impressive Dunderry

May 02, 2025

Dunderry's Evan Nolan

Dunderry 3-20 Drumree 1-13

Dunderry welcomed Drumree for this round 3 clash of the League.

Full forward Adam Kelly was first up after intersecting a line ball and tapped over. Drumree hit two frees before Jordan Martin fielded from a free and picked up from the last day with another over the shoulder beauty. Evan Nolan hit his first free of the evening to edge the home team ahead by the minimum. The reds went back down the field and leveled up proceedings from play. Nolan turned provider next when he gave an inch perfect pass into the hand of Mark Leavy who didn't break stride and rattled the net from 30 yards. This was followed up with a lovley point on the run from the affore mentioned Leavy. Ó Laoire gathered on the half back line, brought Barron along who off loaded to Duffy, into Rian Fay for his opener and Dunderry were flying - leading by five.

Three points were removed with the next play when we failed to get the ball to hand in the middle and Drumree brought themselves back into the game leaving  Fagan no chance in the goalmouth. Nolan responded from play and continued the tit for tat.Drumree's last score of the half was next from play.

As Tommy Nally says Dunderry had a period of ascendancy and made hay while the sun shone. First up Fionn Mc Hale gathered in his square , picked out Duffy who gave a great ball to Jordan Martin who raised his second white flag of the encounter. Nolan pointed his second free of the half before Cathal Barron had his time on stage and scored back to back points. Rian Fay wanted in on the action now and he in turn slotted one after the other. His first came from nice link play involving Fagan, Darragh Fay & Barron. Dunderry finished the half with a superbly taken Nolan goal. The sliotar was worked through the hands from McHale to Duffy to Conor Leavy and Kelly.

Half time Dundery 2-12 Drumree 1-4

The second half brought more of the same with a free and another peach of a gaol from Nolan. Drumree  had a sting in them yet however and hit the next five points.

Nolan and Mark Leavy combined again and the latter pointed. Niall D'Arcys first touch of the evening resulted in him getting the first of two points off the bench. When frees were exchanged it was the hosts leading by double scores. A fine Fagan puck out landed in Nolans paw and he duly converted. Cian Coogan picked out a Drumree clearance and got his name on the score sheet. Two more from play for Drumree was as good as it got for them and when Mark Leavy drove over from 70 yards it brought his teams total to 3 -20 while Drumree finished down a man and with 1-13 scored.

A good work rate and some great team work made it 3 from 3 in the league.
