Kildalkey 3-17 Trim 1-7
Kildalkey came to Trim on Sunday morning as reigning Division 2 HL champions but had a new look team for this first round game against the hosts. Both teams fielded a number of last years minor hurlers but it was Kildalkey that hit the ground running and led by 2-12 to 0-2 at the break.
Podger Geoghegan and Arron Traynor got the goals as the visitors dominated proceedings Trim fared out better in the second half and both teams tagging on another 1-5 but the blues won out on a 3-17 to 1-7 score line.
Arron Traynor hitting 1-4 and Mattie Cully with 0-7 (4f) were the top scorers for the village as they collected the 2 points on offer to get them up and running. Colm Barry’s penalty save was a highlight of the game as he dived to his left to deflect the danger.
