Nobber 0-9 Drumbaragh 3-13
Nobber continued their Division 4 A-League campaign on Sunday morning last with an away trip across the North Meath countryside to Drumbaragh.
It certainly is a day the black and ambers will want to forget as they struggled against the impressive Drumbaragh outfit. Nobber were missing a number of first-team regulars on the day, while the strong wind was crucial in the first half to building up Drumbaragh’s strong half-time lead.
The red and green of Drumbaragh started the game strongly with the aid of a breeze blowing towards the clubhouse end goals of the ground. Nobber had some scoring opportunities with Conor Owens being blocked down at one stage but with a number of attacks breaking down in the final third. In truth, Drumbaragh were on top in the majority of areas throughout the field.
Half-time score – Nobber 0 – 0 (0) Drumbaragh 2 – 10 (16)
Derek Walsh’s charges in the second half showed some fighting spirit and managed to kick some impressive scores with the aid of the strong breeze. Half-forward Owens was prominent on the scoreboard with a couple of well-taken two-pointers. Corner forward Jamie Duffy kicked an impressive point while veteran Brendan Heffernan also managed to keep the Deesiders ticking over on the scoreboard.
Overall a tough day at the office for the Nobber men and one they will hope to learn from and bounce back from.
Next up for Nobber is a home fixture against St Ultans on Sunday, April 6 at 11 AM.
