March 21, 2025

Ciaran Lynch St. Michaels

St. Michaels 1-15, Dunshaughlin 3-14

A tally of 1-8 from the ageless Ciaran Lynch couldn't prevent the visitors Dunshaughlin going home with the spoils after this entertaining first round division 8 clash in ideal conditions in Carlanstown on Thursday evening.

This young St. Michaels side under the management of Tommy Moriarty gave a very good account of themselves in this their first outing of the year and it was Lynch who led by example and got his side off to an ideal start with a two pointer in the opening minute, he followed up with a couple more from play in the following six minutes, Dunshaughlin not to be outdone started to find the target and it was level pegging at the end of the first quarter.

The visitors soon found the back of the net to take the lead for the first time, but Lynch raised his sides only green flag on 22 minutes after being put through on goal with an exceptional delivery from Conor Bates. Paddy Tobin completed the first half scoring for the St. Michaels lads but Dunshaughlin finished the half better with two minors to go one up at the short whistle, 1-8 to 1-7.

Paddy Tobin began the new half as he finished the first with a well struck effort from play after 30 seconds, both sides traded the next four minors before the visitors second major arrived on 38 minutes and they increased their foothold on the game with a further point a minute later.
Points from Conor Bates, Cian McFadden, Matt Moriarty and Lynch completed the scoring for St. Michaels while Dunshaughlin also kept the scoreboard ticking over with points and they secured the result with their third major in the 58th minute.
