Bhulf Tón got their season off to a great start on Saturday with a four point victory over Gaeil Colmcille in a bright and dry Kilberry. Tones got the ideal start when Joey Curtis finished to the net in the third minute, three further points from Eanna Harrington had the Tones leading 1-3 to 0-5 on 17 minutes. The Kells men finished the half the strongest and two late pointed free’s seen them go in at half time leading 0-9 to 1-5.

The second half took off at a fast pace as the Tones hit 1-2 in the first six minutes, Kyle Moran hitting a fantastic point and Eanna Harrington swiftly following with a goal to leave it 2-9 to 0-12 on 45 minutes. Gaeil Colmcille pressed hard all the way in the last quarter as the game swung from end to end with keenly contested battles for possession regularly occurring. Late scores from Alex Timmons Sheehy and Joey Curtis helped Tones maintain a four point lead and when Eanna Harrington struck over a spectacular long range free on 60 minutes, victory was assured 2-13 – 0-15.

Credit to both teams for putting on a thoroughly enjoyable game off hurling, with both teams playing with good energy and focus. Tones had good performances across the field with Conor McKeever, Eoin Donegan, Eanna Harrington, Alex Timmons Sheehy and Joey Curtis to the fore. 

Further credit to Thomas O’Connor, Alex Timmons Sheehy, Travis O’Reilly, Evan Curley, Jamie Meehan and Jack Shalvey who made their adult hurling debut’s.
