Meath 1-14, Kildare 0-03                                                                  

Meath U-16 Camoges went into round 2 of the Leinster Championship last evening under lights at Glen Easton Park in Leixlip off the back of a win against Westmeath a week earlier. They knew victory against Kildare would secure a Leinster final spot.

The early exchanges were nip and tuck as Meath settled in for a good battle. Early scores from full forward Saoirse Meagher (Clann NaGael) (2) and Ellen Murray (Trim) set the tone for what was an excellent display of point scoring from the Meath girls.

Seamim Shaw (Killyon), Aoibheann Ward (Na Fianna), Holly Reilly (Boardsmill) and Sarah Heffernan (Na Fianna) were on top form as they forced the Kildare forwards to live on very little supply of ball.

Further scores from the excellent Murray, Meagher, Nessa Slattery (Trim) and Faye Govern (Dunderry) gave Meath a deserved 0-09 to 0-02 advantage at the interval.

Throughout the second half Meath pressed home their advantage creating a number of goal chances. The Kildare net minder had to be in top form to keep the ball out.

The goal was finally breached when Meath and Dunboyne Camogie star Erin Mangan got on the end of a sweeping move to fire to the net. This was to the delight of her team mates as Erin has returned to the green and gold following an injury hit 2024.

Meath ran out 1-14 to 0-03 winners on a lovely evening for Camogie. Meath play Carlow in  round 3 in two weeks time.
