Dunshaughlin made a return to the top table after a 22 year wait. The Black and Ambers sailed through their group and accounted for Ratoath in the quarter final and Dunboyne in the semi final. Mathew Costello’s goal with minutes remaining at a stormy Páirc Tailteann proved crucial as Richie Kealy’s men took home the Keegan Cup. The champions had plenty of fine individual performers throughout their unbeaten campaign. Niall Byrne, Jared Rushe, Adam Kealy, Charlie O’Connor, Conor Duke and Mathew Costello had plenty of fine moments.
Shane Glynn, the O’Neills Dan and Adam, the O’Reilly’s Niall and Thomas, the Wards Caolan and Fiachra along with Saran O Fionnagain led the line for an unlucky Wolfe Tones. Seamus Lavin and Ronan Jones drove on St. Peters. Shane Smyth, Niall Finnerty and Darragh Campion can be more than pleased with their season's work for semi finalists Skryne.
There can be only one winner and we have gone for the brilliant Ruairi Kinsella. The Dunshaughlin 11 was at the heart of all that was good about this young team this year. Whether in defence of attack Kinsella was there to help out. His passing and link play was crucial as the Keegan Cup champions remained unbeaten. 1-2 and Player of the Match in the county final, five points against Dunboyne in what was an extremely tight affair and while he didn’t score in their quarter final win over Ratoath, Kinsella was play maker supreme as the 2022 champs were downed at Páirc Tailteann.
Well done Ruairi
