Dunderry 2-13 Donaghmore/Ashbourne 1-10
This game played in beautiful sunshine on the last day of November didn't disappoint the large crowd that gathered in Dunderry.
It was Ashbourne who hit the first score of the game from a free against a fair breeze but the blacks soon hit back with ever reliable Nolan from a free and from there they kicked on with scores from Mark Leavy, Cathal Barron, Rian Fay, Cian Coogan before Ashbourne hit their second score of the game. A Jamie Duffy high ball deep into the Ashbourne goal mouth broke to the very creative Cian Coogan who pulled first time to the back of the net. Dunderry now well on top with Rian Fay adding another from play and Nolan adding 3 more frees and one from play, Ashbourne did hit back with two more frees to leave the side dunderry 1-11 Ashbourne 0-04.
Second half Dunderry found scores hard to come by against the breeze as Ashbourne piled on the pressure, with a couple of points and a well taken goal from a free to now only leave 5 points in it, but the Dunderry defence stood firm with excellent displays from Daragh Fay, Jamie Duffy, Fionn McHale and goalie Jack Fagan who made two great saves in that 2nd half. But then a long ball out of defence found Cian Coogan who raced towards goal and bat to the back of the net to restore a healthy lead for the blacks. Ashbourne again hit back with two points but Rian Fay and William Treacy both added points to finish of a well deserved win for Dunderry who now play Rathmoylan Saturday 7th 12.30pm in Trim in the decider.
