Bru na Boinne claimed the Regional Football Championship for the first time with this entertaining three point win over An Tuascairt under lights at Ashbourne.

The highlight from this decider was the scoring power of Curraha’s Diarmuid Moriarty and Alan Bowden Duleek Bellewstown. 

Moriarty and Rian McConnell put An Tuascairt two up inside the opening two minutes. Adam Tuite put Bru na Boinne on the scoreboard before Moriarty added another three. Sean Emmanuel brought John McCarthy’s men back into the game with a cracking goal towards the end of the first quarter. With Bowden to the fore Bru na Boinne went in at the break 1-7 to 0-8 in front.

With forty minutes gone Bru na Boinne still held a two point lead, 1-10 to 0-11. Moraiarty narrowed it to the minimum before Donal Landy put some daylight between the teams with Bru na Boinne’s second goal. Bowden opened a six point lead with another point as injury time approached. Moriarty ensured a nervy finish for the St. Vincents, Duleek Bellewstown, St. Pats, St. Mary's and Eastern Gaels outfit with a super goal but time ran out for An Tuascairt and Bru na Boinne were crowned champions for the first time.
