Boardsmill N.S. 7-9 Baconstown N.S.3-3
Boardsmill completed a historic four in a row of Cumann na mBunscol titles back in 2010 but the team in blue had to wait until yesterday at Páirc Tailteann to add to that winners list. PHOTOS
From the word go Boardsmill dominated. Robin Healy was first to trouble the scoreboard. On the 3rd minute Kyah Ashe was in for the first of her three goals. Kayla Wall kept Baconstown in the game with a wonderful goal. The winners led 1-6 to 1-2 by the 20th minute but before the break they added goals from Ashe and Robin Healy to take a healthy 3-7 to 1-2 lead to the huddle.
The game was a good as over inside the opening five minutes of the second half. Mollie Kate Mahon raised two free flags and Ashe completed her hat-trick and Boardsmill were well on their way to a fifth title. Baconstown to their credit never gave up and were rewarded with goals from Lauren Connolly and Paige Healy before former county star Niamh O’Sullivan blew the full time whistle.
After the game joint captains Robin Healy and Mollie Kate Mahon were presented with the Allianz Meath Cumann na mBunscol Girls Division 3 cup by James Battersby.
