The large crowd that descended upon the wonderful facilities at Ballinlough GFC on Sunday evening were treated to an outstanding Under 15 Division 4 Football Championship final between two very evenly matched teams. PHOTOS

Drumconrath/Meath Hill got a brilliant start with a point from Cormac Reilly and a goal from the outstanding Ben Reilly. Gaeil Colmcille could afford the luxury of a missed penalty before Daniel Callery and Dillon Glynn put them on the scoreboard. Harry Carolan and Ben Reilly extended the combination sides lead before Glynn got his second point and Ryan Campbell was in for the Gaeils opening goal. Drumconrath Meath Hill replied instantly with a Carolan goal and with ten minutes left in the half they led 2-3 1-3. The Kells boys dominated the remainder with points from Callery, Campbell and Glynn and a goal from Luke Byrne on the stroke of half time to gave them a 2-6 to 2-3 interval lead.

Kells responded in style with fine goals from Ruairi Carry and Byrne and looked to be on their way to victory. Drumconrath Meath Hill had other ideas. Ben Reilly got his second goal from the penalty spot, Carolan added another point before Reilly sent over the equaliser. Carolan gave the North Meath combination the lead with his third point of the afternoon as the clock ticked down. Gaeil Colmcille didn’t panic.
