Kildalkey's Paddy Barnwell

Kildalkey 4-21 Clann na nGael 1-9

The final round of games in the Meath SHC were on at the weekend and on Saturday evening Kildalkey took on neighbours Clann Na nGael in sunny Longwood with the winner progressing to the knockout stages and the loser going into the senior B semifinals.

Clan na Gael stuck with Kildalkey for the first quarter with David Harmon getting Kildalkeys first point from a booming free from his own half but then gaps started to appear in the Clan rearguard as Nicky Potterton, Conor and Evan Fitzgerald, Paddy Barnwell, Brian O Halloran and full back Brin Kelly all chipping in with good points while at the other end a miserly defence gave very little away and kept the Clann na nGael scores to the minimum as the score read at halftime Kildalkey 0-12 Clann Na Gael 0-4

Kildalkey sowed up the game in the third quarter with another hat-trick of goals from the in form Brian O'Halloran putting distance between the teams. 2 Nicky Potterton frees were quickly followed up by points from Martin Healy, Niall McNally, O'Halloran, Kelly and Barnwell got the fourth goal to seal the win Clann na nGael to their credit never gave up and chalked up another 1-5 in the half but Kildalkey were out the gap at that stage as they move on to the quarter finals
