Carnaross 4-13 Clonard 3-09

Carnaross opened their 2024 campaign when they welcomed Clonard to Páirc Naomh Chiarán for the opening round of Tailteann Shield.

On a wet and miserable afternoon, our beautiful new sod held up well in testing conditions.

Carnaross emerged victorious in a hard hitting encounter. The first half was a tight affair with the Hoops holding a slender lead of 1-05 to 0-5 at half time.

In the second half, Carnaross extended their lead but Clonard refused to lie down and managed to score 3 goals with their last 3 efforts of the contest.

The brightest note of the entire performance was the emergence of our minor team of 2023. 5 players made their competitive debut today for their first taste of adult football. John Reilly, Michael Yore, Oisín Yore, Charlie Murphy and Kian Farrelly all impressed, taking the step up with minimum fuss and maximum determination.

We look forward to our next fixture in the Tailteann Shield Cup when we travel to Drumconrath next Saturday, the 24th of February, at 2pm.
