Former Mayo star David Brady has been appointed senior football manager at Ratoath.

Brady, who lined out against Meath in the 1996 All-Ireland final and replay, takes over from former Meath star Brian Farrell.

The long-serving Brady lined out for Mayo in the 2004 and 2006 All Ireland finals and won an All Ireland SFC club title with Ballina Stephenites in 2005.

Ratoath were aiming for a three-in-a-row of Keegan Cup titles this year but their plans were upset by Wolfe Tones at the semi-final stage.

Former Dublin goalkeeper Davy Byrne guided Ratoath to their first-ever title in 2019 and Farrell was at the helm last year when a late, late Joey Wallace goal saw them get over the line against Gaeil Colmcille.

There is also a change of the club's senior hurling manager as Mike Connolly replaces joint-managers James McGrath and Brendan Doyle.

The duo guided Ratoath to their first-ever Meath SHC final last year but lost out to Trim in early August after extra-time in the delayed 2020 decider at Pairc Tailteann.
