Former GAA president urges Croke Park fans to wear facemasks

Former GAA president Liam O’Neill has urged those attending matches at Croke Park in the coming weeks to wear facemasks.
There were 40,000 fans in attendance for last Sunday’s All-Ireland hurling final at headquarters and the same number is expected for next month’s senior football, ladies football and camogie finals.
Speaking to RTE’s Morning Ireland programme, Mr O’Neill said that the GAA and the government have a responsibility to get the message across to fans attending those games as well as this Saturday’s All-Ireland semi-final between Kerry and Tyrone for which an attendance of 24,000 is anticipated.
"I think people have taken the foot off the pedal of caution. That is a worry and we have to get that back,” he said.
"We need to start having a reflective message that people who are privileged to go to these games have a responsibility. It's not too much to ask anybody to wear a mask.
"We (the GAA) have a reputation for doing the right thing, we just need to be reminded that we need to keep doing it.”
