Tareis tosach maith rinne cúlaithe Bhulf Tón an bheart i gcoinne na gaoithe sa dara leath chun bua a bhaint amach in aghaidh a gcomharsan ar oiche ghaofar I mBaile Shíomóin.
Bhulf Tón qualified for the Feis Cup semi final with this merited victory over their near neighbours. Wind assisted Tones had a dream start with a goal in the third minute from Fiachra Ward who finished well having gathered a Thomas Blaney centre. This was a reply to a Simonstown free in the first minute. Although the sides were level 1 00 to 0 03 after ten minutes an Eanna O Kelly Lynch goal following good work from Oisín Martin put the Tones ahead again and they would hold the lead from there to the final whistle. Tones squandered a number of goal opportunities while the Simonstown goalie Robbie Burlingham pulled off a fine save from a Daniel O Neill piledriver at the expense of a point. O Neill added a fine point minutes later and a Caolan Ward ’45 which was deflected over the bar by a Simonstown defender accounted for the rest of the Tones first half scores. Three points separated the sides at the interval on a 2 04 to 0 07 scoreline.
Facing a strong breeze in the second half this lead seemed slender but some excellent defending by the visitors combined with poor finishing from Simonstown combined to see Tones add a further three points by the end of the third quarter to a solitary point from the hosts. A full length diving block from Shane Glynn to save a certain goal typified the Tones determination. Tones got some breathing space when Thomas Blaney who was having a fine game finished to the net following some intricate interplay from Fiachra Ward and Brughach O Fionnagáin giving Tones an eight point cushion. Simonstown came in search of goals but couldn’t break down a resolute Tones defence.
