Darragh Fitzgibbon is to meet the young boy who was injured during the celebrations immediately after Cork’s Munster SHC win over Tipperary last Sunday.
The young Cork fan took an accidental blow to the head from the bás of the Cork captain’s hurl as he embraced Shane Barrett after the final whistle. The youngster fell to the ground in tears, with Fitzgibbon unaware of what had happened.
The unfortunate incident was picked by the TV cameras and Tipperary great Noel McGrath, along with one of the linesmen, could be seen checking on the child's wellbeing. Thankfully, he didn’t appear to be badly hurt.
Fitzgibbon subsequently issued an appeal to the public through Cavanagh’s of Charleville to track down the fan and to present him with a signed jersey.
“We are looking for the public's help in tracking down this young boy who accidentally got caught up in the celebrations of Cork's win yesterday over Tipp,” a post from Cavanagh’s on social media read.
“Our Brand Ambassador, Darragh Fitzgibbon, reached out to us this morning asking for your help in identifying this boy as Darragh would like to meet him and give him a signed Cork jersey. Please share this post and help us to identify who this boy is.”
