Kevin McStay is recovering in hospital after suffering a ‘medical episode’ at a Mayo training session on Saturday.
It was widely reported over the weekend that the Mayo manager took ill in Hastings Insurance MacHale Park as the team prepared for next Saturday evening’s crucial All-Ireland SFC Round 2 trip to Omagh to face an in-form Tyrone.
The Westerners are on the backfoot after suffering a shock opening round loss to Cavan on the weekend before last.
“It’s a tough group, there are four very good teams in it. We were always going to have to go to Tyrone anyway and get stuck into that match no matter what happened here today,” McStay said after the Cavan loss.
“There’s just a bit more edge to it now because we haven’t picked up any points, but we’ll be chasing two points in Omagh.”
