Ethan Rafferty completed the first leg of what he hopes will be an All-Ireland double last Sunday.
The Grange clubman was crowned All-Ireland men’s intermediate road bowls champions in West Cork, 24 hours after Armagh beat Kerry in an extra-time thriller at Croke Park. As he was carried shoulder-high by supporters after his winning throw, a delighted Rafferty declared: ‘one down, one to go!'
Rafferty was the Orchard County’s No. 1 before suffering a broken leg in a club match this time last year. He returned to fitness in March, but has been unable to regain his starting place from the in-form Blaine Hughes who is set to keep goals against Galway in the All-Ireland SFC final on Sunday week.
