Tyrone full back Ronan McNamee has brought the curtain down on his 11-year inter-county career.
An exceptional man-marker, he 32-year-old Aghyaran clubman made his senior debut in the 2012 All-Ireland SFC qualifier defeat to Kerry in Killarney before going on to win Ulster SFC medals in 2016, ’17 and ’21 as well as an All-Ireland title in ’21 when Tyrone defeated Mayo in the final. He also won an All-Star in 2019 and made 133 appearances for his county.
McNamee’s retirement comes after he missed most of this year’s Allianz League through injury before returning to play in a largely disappointing Championship campaign which culminated in a heavy All-Ireland SFC quarter-final loss to Kerry at Croke Park.
