Huge gulf in physical conditioning of Kildare versus Louth. We were being knocked off the ball too easily and running into tackles and coming out without the ball. Disappointed our defence never laid a hand on a Kildare forward all day. Anyway, at least we know what the standard is now that we need to reach over the next 5 years. Mulroy is the only player from the Louth team that would make the Kildare team. Kildare have a great chance of going the whole way in Leinster this year. Best of luck to them.

Well done Dublin and congrats to the GAA/AIG and all the lotto funding for creating a development structure in the county which helps develop a squad of players from such a small population base of almost 1.5 million. It will be very disappointing given the professionalism and money pumped into Dublin GAA if they don't go on to win 10 or 15 of the next 20 All Ireland's.

Replying To rebeltrev:  "Dublin are a serious team. They play the game on there terms. Tyrone made some very bad decisions today which they will regret but Dublin where well in control. Other counties need to step it up and stop moaning about Dublin having money and population. They are just an once in a lifetime team."
Check how many players Dublin have had in their squad over the last 6 years! Probably close on 60+ players. That's an abundance of talent that all other counties cannot compete with. Once in a life time I don't think so. It's only going to get worse. Eventually even the dub fans won't fill Croker on All Ireland final day.

Dublin Vs Donegal - 5 Like(s)

Replying To Donegalman:  "This is the first year in a long time that we are going into a quarter final or the equivalent of with a fighting chance. It will be an entirely different Donegal side to the ones we saw coming in in 2013, 2015 or 2016 to Croke park - a team with a 6 day turnaround after playing a hatful of games. yes we have played 4 already, but our opposition this year has been much kinder to us. I feel that we are in a position of no pressure also. The team looked very laid back and relaxed last night in donegal town. We will not be going to play Dublin to keep the scoreline respectable either. The fact that our first 2 games in the super 8s are both away fixtures is unfortunate, but on the balance of our performances and where we are at, who cares. Lot of speculation about where the dubs are at this year without Connolly. I am not sure it makes much difference to be honest. Also, Cluxton's no 2 looked pretty good yesterday. They have only first world problems to contend with. The only enemy they have is their own complacency. This is an unlikely factor this time though. With Tyrone, Monaghan or mayo potentially in the group, we are looking at a very tight finish to the super 8 series. I hope we can get a win in Croke park to start off with."
Hard to watch Dublin. They are a machine. Robotic. Players super fit. Skills aren't important. McCauley has hardly put a ball to foot in 20 championship matches. He's not in the team to do that. Boring as hell to watch. I think I'll head to mass

Great atmosphere in park tailteann today. Louth deserved it. Should have grabbed a few goals in the first half. Fair play to Meath for going 5 ahead with 14 men but great resilience by Louth to dig deep to go 3 ahead. Won't be fearing Kildare at home next week.

Yes they were but not Louths issue if someone on the cork team chooses to throw a lousy elbow into someone's head. You can only beat what's in front of you. Great league campaign for Louth irrespective of the result next week.

Replying To DUBJOHN:  "Yeah that's a good idea, say a few prayers for the Louth team whilst you're there, they need all the help they can get!"
Nah. Louth are long past prayers. We've given up getting hockeyed by the dubs and any other county looking for a good day out.

Paul Mannion's Red Card Against Louth - 1 Like(s)
Mannion had no regard for the safety of the player he nailed with the frontal strike. Majority of the contact was not on the shoulder. Should not have been overturned in my view. Anyway good luck to him. Dublin are a class act

Debatable whether Dessie has the coaching experience to manage at this level yet. Haven't seen anything from westmeaths two home performances to suggest that they know what their best attacking options are and we play way too conservative with too many behind the ball playing it back and forth with no real penetration. Terrible to watch.

Replying To Claretandblue:  "In relation to the game being no advert for football it's not right to blame the conditions for that, the tactics employed by both sides were also at fault, the game was played laterally for most parts, terrible to watch, modern management have a lot to answer for."
Couldn't agree more and the emphasis on tactics, defensive sweepers, process, systems etc is suffocating creativity and taking away valuable training time developing fundamental skills. It has permeated underage at club and county level. The fear of losing is ruining the quality of football being played
