There was much sadness in the area when John Carroll, Whitestown, Greenore passed away on November 24th, 2012. While working in England, John had once had a trial with West Bromwich Albion. He played a number of sports including soccer, golf, pool, snooker, bowls and gaelic football. In 1947, he was on the Willville Stars side that beat Greenore to win the Cooley League.
